    native trees having been planted gravel paths having been laid and a picnic table and a bridge over the mill stream having been put in place The current phase of the mill restoration that of restoring the inner workings of the mill is well underway at present All of these major developments would not have been possible without generous grant assistance from agencies such as Galway County Council The Heritage Council based in Kilkenny and Galway Rural Development based in Athenry In addition to this the assistance received from various Fás Schemes and Rural Social Schemes has been invaluable We have a number of other achievements to our name also Each year we organise a number of activities to coincide with National Heritage Week which falls in late August early September Among these are Heritage and Harvest Days Open Days at the Mill local Heritage Trails around the parish Heritage Bus Trips to places of particular interest and talks at which guest speakers deal with various heritage topics We have produced a Development Plan for Templetogher and this impressive document is a very valuable resource We have organised the production and positioning of two beautiful Heritage Maps of the parish one of which is located at the square in Williamstown and the second one at Templetogher We have organised the purchase and placing of six attractive heritage signposts indicating where Templetogher Heritage Area and our other three cemeteries are located We have hosted major meetings and seminars attended by people from all over the country Our members have participated in a number of exhibitions seminars and meetings in various locations We have promoted several Student Summer Schemes through which much valuable work was done including the collecting of data from our cemeteries and the streamlining of our Parish Records We

    the mid 1970s a very good team was taking shape A number of local tournaments were won and then in 1978 the team captured the North Board League title beating St Gabriel s Kilconnell in the final Pat Kenny was the manager of the team and I had the honour of captaining the team myself In 1979 we retained the North Board League title this time defeating Corofin in the final Pat Kenny was again the manager and Paddy Geraghty was now the captain No major honours came the way of the club in 1980 but this was followed by the most successful year ever in the club s history at adult level as in 1981 the team now playing in the Intermediate grade or Division 2 as it was then known brought off a unique double winning the North Board League title again defeating neighbours Glinsk in the final and also capturing the county championship beating Clifden in the final Pat Kenny was still the manager in 1981 and the captain in this historic year was John Timothy This successful team was honoured by the club in 2006 the 25th anniversary of this victory with a celebratory social in Morgans Function Room Williamstown Though the club continued to participate in a competitive manner in the years that followed no major honours came our way again until 1993 when once again the club captured the North Board Junior League title defeating neighbours Kilkerrin Clonberne in the final The team was managed by Kevin Boyle and the captain was John Connaughton Then came another quiet period in the club s fortunes until in the early years of the new century another talented team was taking shape After a number of near misses this team made another historic breakthrough when it won
