  • Prof. Liming Wang Invited to Attend China’s “Two Meetings”
    NPC CPPCC annual sessions invited 35 overseas delegates from 21 countries to attend the conferences In the panel discussion Prof Liming Wang made two proposals First to better the education in Chinese language and culture overseas the management structure needs to be transformed The former structure which has three parallel institutions Hanban the Confucius Institute Headquarters the Chinese Education of the Office of Overseas Chinese Affairs and the Chinese Culture Centre of the Ministry of Culture must be abandoned A new International Chinese Language and Culture Promotion Office based on Hanban should be created with the function of coordinating between the parties concerned and also general planning Thus an optimized resource allocation and resource sharing can be achieved Second the innovation of educational ideals is the core of all innovations A nation cannot develop without innovation and innovation will not happen unless we have innovative people Innovation in our educational ideals is the prerequisite for all of these The new educational ideal should be able to address the essence of both eastern and western culture It should tackle challenges from the rapidly developing world of information technology masses of on line information and the era of big data Students educated under this new ideal should have the 3 CHA i e Critical thinking Creative thinking Challenging thinking Holistic view Harmonious view Historical view Analytical skill Accessing skill and Applied skill These two proposals were both published in the 51st Report of the CPPCC During the meeting Prof Liming Wang was interviewed by People cn about the promotion of Chinese education and attended the press conference about the development of Confucius Institutes organised by Xinhua News Agency Guangming Daily Economic Daily China Culture and China Business Times Interview web link http ft people com cn fangtanDetail do pid 913 Thanks for
