    The Development Squad takes place from 11am 1pm on each day and is open to all athletes aged 12 years The squad will cost 5 per athlete each day Please check in at the stand in Morton Stadium from 10 30am Dates for the Development and events covered are listed below February 28th 2015 11am 1pm Hurdles Middle Distance Javelin and High Jump April 11th 2015 11am 1pm Sprints Middle Distance Shot Long Jump ALL ATHLETES FOR THE DEVELOPMENT AND PERFORMANCE SQUAD PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE HAS BEEN A CHANGE OF DATE FOR DAY 5 OF THE SQUADS AS THE DATE CLASHES WITH THE NATIONAL JUVENILE INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS THE PREVIOUS DATE OF March 21st HAS NOW BEEN CHANGED TO APRIL 11TH Please Note that there will be a Pole Vault session as part of the Development Squad starting at 11am Anyone interested in learning the Pole Vault or adding to previous experience is welcome to attend There will also be an open Steeplechase Workshop at 2pm for any athlete who wishes to attend and learn the basics of the event Performance Squad The Performance Squad is for invited athletes only from the U16 to U19 age groups The Performance Squad will run on the same dates as above from 1 3pm and will cover all events Athletes who missed the online registration for the Performance Squad can register on Day 4 in Morton Stadium Please note that the Middle Distance Performance Squad will not meet on February 28th Any athlete selected for the Middle Distance group who may have missed the previous squad sessions should contact the group coach Brian Dowling if they have not already done so Brian can be emailed at bdowlingcoach hotmail com or on 085 2545579 Join our club Contact us today if you are interested

    in April one of the fastest courses in the international marathon calendar The third man home was Clonliffe runner Tudor Moldovan Two Meath runners made it into the top six finishers with fifth placed Luke Forde of Dunboyne clocking in at 54 11 just ahead of Peter Mooney from Clonard In the masters categories there were two Meath winners Phelim Glynn Dunboyne AC announced his arrival into the M50 category with a winning effort of 56 29 It was fitting that victory in the M60 grade went to Pat Comey from the organising club Trim AC who has been to the forefront of masters athletics for many years In the womens race Breege Connolly from North Belfast Harriers put in a really impressive performance to cross the line two and a half minutes ahead of her nearest rival Pauline Curley Tullamore Harriers Speaking after the race the winner expressed satisfaction at having set a new personal best time for ten miles and asked what lay ahead in her season she said When it comes to racing I plan not to plan While there was no Meath women placed in the top six seniors local women were to the fore in the masters categories The strength in depth of the womens masters scene in the county was shown thoughout Meath athletes filled the first three spots in F40 with strong performances by Olivia Martin Karen Lavelle and Andrea McGuninnes They took two out of three places in other masters grades with Mary Hanley won F45 and her clubmate Imelda Clarke finished third in F45 In the F50 grade second and third places went to Linda Gunning and Ann Tobin respectively Trim AC secretary Andy Linsley was very happy with the how this new race went and the support it received from

    on their running gear Get into your gear in the comfort of your own home That s what tracksuits and sweatshirts are for Warm up before the race Warming up is not just for the elites Everyone needs to warm up particularly on Sunday Move around enough to get the blood flowing without breaking into a heavy sweat Leave your warm up to a few minutes before race start Control your car temperature Some people turn their car into a micro climate zone on cold race days It can be 23C inside the car and 5C outside It s best not to have your car interior very warm while you re waiting around for the race You ll be making your body feel too warm and the cold weather will give you a right shock when you line up at the start Wear Layers do not dress yourself in big bulky fleeces sweatshirts and jackets Light layers work so much better Breathable and wicking layers provide the best type of layer for the forecasted conditions Your outer layer should have a zip so that you can open and close it as you get warm and cold Gloves and Hats these are essential But remember you re not going to need Ski hats and gloves This is only Ireland Light gloves and hats are perfect because there is a fine line between being too warm and just right After the race Your core body temperature drops as soon as you stop running To avoid a lingering case of the chills change your clothes head to toe as soon as you can Make sure you bring a change of clothes Then drink something hot and get some food Which shouldn t be a problem with Bewley s sponsoring the race Hydration there
