  • BIOMASS PROSPECTS MUST BE CONSIDERED – Thomas Pringle TD
I highlighted this issue with Minister O Dowd last week and I welcome that a bioenergy strategy is due to be published in the coming weeks It is very important that electricity generation from biomass is included in the strategy and I hope this will be the case Technological developments in recent years have meant that the use of biomass has become very attractive particularly convection While wind energy will always be an option we could focus on the potential of biomass to help us to reach our targets There is a project under way in Yorkshire at the moment to convert the largest coal fired generating plant in Europe to biomass which is technologically feasible and will contribute hugely to a reduction in carbon emissions We should be looking at an adventurous programme like that There is also the potential to develop our own indigenous industry to supply biomass as well as developing export growth in that regard It would provide sustainable jobs without damaging local communities thus allaying concerns about the use of industrial wind turbines I look forward to seeing the introduction of the strategy and sincerely hope that the prospects for biomass are included in a meaningful way This is a way of achieving our targets without the amount of pain in evidence across the country at the moment and I would like to see it realised in the near future stated Pringle Be Sociable Share Previous Story PRINGLE WELCOMES LAUNCH OF BIOMARINE PLANT Next Story DISCRETIONARY MEDICAL CARD FIASCO MUST BE ADDRESSED ADEQUATELY About admin Contact Info Killybegs Constituency Office Connolly House Bridge Street Killybegs Co Donegal 074 97 41880 thomas pringle oir ie Latest News Look out for my General Election 2016 newsletter February 11 2016 12 59 pm DONEGAL NOW Donegal TD reveals

  • PRINGLE WELCOMES APPOINTMENT PROCESS FOR PAEDIATRIC DIABETES NURSE – Thomas Pringle TD
DIABETES NURSE PRINGLE WELCOMES APPOINTMENT PROCESS FOR PAEDIATRIC DIABETES NURSE By admin Tweet Pin It Updated 8th April 2014 Thomas Pringle TD has today welcomed the announcement that the appointment process has started to recruit a clinical paediatric diabetes nurse at Letterkenny General Hospital following a meeting this afternoon between parents and Minister Reilly I am delighted by this announcement today and would like to congratulate the Donegal Diabetes Parent Support Group for all their hard work which has led to this result Earlier this afternoon I met with affected parents who had travelled to Dublin to hand in the petition that so many people in Donegal signed to provide this dedicated paediatric diabetes clinical nurse specialist before they met with Minister Reilly to discuss this announcement This follows a productive debate I had with the Minister last week in the Dáil at Topical Issues where myself and other Donegal TDs highlighted the need for this nurse to facilitate the healthcare needs of around 143 children in the county I eagerly await the recruitment of this specialist nurse which is the first big step towards providing a centre of excellence for diabetes in LGH that we so badly need in the North West stated Pringle Be Sociable Share Previous Story PRINGLE CALLS FOR PAEDIATRIC DIABETES NURSE AT LETTERKENNY Next Story PRINGLE PAYS TRIBUTE TO GPS OUTLINING CRISIS About admin Contact Info Killybegs Constituency Office Connolly House Bridge Street Killybegs Co Donegal 074 97 41880 thomas pringle oir ie Latest News Look out for my General Election 2016 newsletter February 11 2016 12 59 pm DONEGAL NOW Donegal TD reveals Minister Lynch will not meet with Save Our St Joseph s Campaign February 11 2016 11 24 am DONEGAL NOW Calls on Burton to provide additional funding for community services programmes

  • PRINGLE CALLS FOR PAEDIATRIC DIABETES NURSE AT LETTERKENNY – Thomas Pringle TD
county who have the Type 1 form of the condition which in this day and age is ludicrous These children can use an insulin pump to cut down on the number of daily injections they have to get but the nearest centre of excellence for pump therapy is four hours away in Dublin This is highly unsatisfactory for these children s needs and a great burden on the families who are already struggling to manage their children s condition The recruitment of an Integrated Diabetes Clinical Nurse Specialist is being used to deal with both adults and children which is a far call from best practice and highly inappropriate considering the number of children in the region in need of this service At the end of the day children should be able to get their insulin pump at Letterkenny and not have to make the trip to Dublin when it s needed The HSE Diabetes Expert Advisory Group recommends one Paediatric Diabetes Clinical Nurse Specialist per 100 children adolescents with diabetes we can see from this that we are well above this recommended ratio and this situation will worsen as occurrences of paediatric diabetes increase It is therefore vital that we address this issue now before it is let get any worse I acknowledge that the Minister has agreed to meet with parents from Donegal and I welcome this but it s action not words that is needed and I m calling on Minister Reilly to provide the clinical paediatric diabetes nurse that is so badly needed In that regard I would like to thank the Donegal Parents Diabetes Support Group and Donegal branch of Diabetes Ireland for their continued work in highlighting this issue and I for one will keep pushing this issue until we get what our children
