  • Deputy Pringle disappointed after reading High Level Report on employment in Killybegs which he states on Ocean FM with Niall Delaney – Thomas Pringle TD
in Killybegs in June by Minister Coveney but says that the people of Donegal already knew the potentials of job creation in the fishing industry which would add value to fish that is already landed in the town but this report does not map out where the jobs are going to be created and when it s going to be achieved In a recent statement from Minister Coveney s Department it was stated that eighty jobs had already been created on foot of this report but clearly this isn t the case Under grant aid business expansion schemes existing Companies can apply for this grant In the application they have a box to tick where it states how many new jobs this expansion is going to create to be approved for this grant but it seems that these jobs may not have been created Thomas states he does not want to criticise this report The Donegal County Manager Department of Marine LYIT and other stakeholders sit around one table together to discuss issues in relation to The Jobs Initiative in Killybegs This is a great way for them to deal with each other if other problems may arise in different areas like planning etc they can talk together other more freely and work things out Thomas finishes his statement live on Ocean FM by saying the Government launched The Jobs Initiative over six months ago and nobody can see where these jobs have been created Actions will speak louder than words and we wait to see the High Level Group deliver these jobs to the town He says there is scant detail in the report and the actions required are not significant Be Sociable Share Previous Story Large turnout at Ardara Can t Pay Won t Pay Meeting Next Story

  • Large turnout at Ardara Can’t Pay Won’t Pay Meeting. – Thomas Pringle TD
to the Dail this week because of the massive majority of the government it will definitely be passed in the Dail The only way that it can be opposed is by the people themselves deciding that it will not be implemented The large attendance heard that the introduction of the Septic Tank Water and Property Taxes gives the Irish people their first opportunity to directly have their say on the austerity programme being imposed on us These taxes are to go directly to pay back the debt imposed on the people by the Troika Programme and will not contribute in any way to the delivery or improvement of any local services Every cent raised locally will be matched by a cent withdrawn by the government from local services In a show of hands the meeting unanimously opposed the taxes and agreed not to pay or register for them The meeting follows on from the very successful meeting held in Donegal Town on Monday night where over 350 people attended in the Central Hotel The campaign is gaining momentum with more and more calls from local groups for meetings to be held There is a meeting in Downings on Monday night and meetings coming up in Killybegs and Carrick Considerable concern was expressed from the floor about the extra costs being forced onto people and the view that people will not be able to stand much more of this austerity was widely held With Christmas on the way the large attendance wondered where money was going to come from to pay the additional charges Real anger was expressed by the fact that the new water and property taxes will amount to over 1300 per year for already hard pressed households Deputy Thomas Pringle Be Sociable Share Previous Story Can t Pay
