  • PRINGLE CALLS ON GOVERNMENT TO INTRODUCE FAIR BUDGET – Thomas Pringle TD
your cabinet Ministers is well underway who will cut what from where We are already hearing about the slashing of Child Benefit and I dare say this is only the tip of the iceberg for the next eight weeks of rumours and so called leaks Last year s budget has proven to be one of the most regressive this State has ever seen disproportionately affecting those who are already struggling in our society As Nobel laureate Joseph Stiglitz says austerity almost never works to resolve economic downturns austerity instead turns downturns into recessions and plunges recessions into depressions A succession of budgets dragging down domestic demand and delaying recovery is not the answer By increasing the effective tax rate for high earners by just 1 5 there would be an extra 650 million in additional revenue and a wealth tax could generate 200 million You could effectively get 850 million just by a moderate targeting of high earners added Pringle That s only two proposals that the Nevin Institute has just published in its alternative budget strategy which makes a number of costed proposals for an alternative adjustment which could lead to the same deficit outcome of 7 5 of GDP but would also provide for the protection of front line services and social protection Government plans would result in a loss of 29 000 jobs but with this costed proposal it would save 21 000 of those While there is no fast way of recovering this economy the path the Government is taking is the wrong one There is an alternative to penalising people while still generating the revenue required stated Pringle Be Sociable Share Previous Story PRINGLE SPARKS CONCERNS ON FUTURE OF HEALTHCARE SYSTEM Next Story PRINGLE CALLS ON GOVERNMENT TO CLARIFY ESM DOUBLE PAYMENT About admin Contact

  • PRINGLE SPARKS CONCERNS ON FUTURE OF HEALTHCARE SYSTEM – Thomas Pringle TD
is where does the Labour Party now stand in this Government It is clear that health policy is being led by clientelism and driven into privatisation by this Government where primary healthcare centres like Ballaghaderreen are prioritised that were not even in the top 200 on the priority list have been approved delivered through Public Private Partnerships which are licenses to print money Labour s manifesto claimed they would reform the unfair two tier health system to reduce the cost of delivering care and use those savings to extend universal access to essential medical care but it seems this promise is dead How can another junior Labour Minister ever hope to deliver on reform when they will not even be able to rely on the support of their party leader nor have any powers delegated to them Our noble Minister for Health has certainly shown his level of respect for the former Minister and healthcare reform itself by stating that pressure s only for tyres Deputy Shortall has shown that the emperor has no clothes and we now know that this is yet another area that Labour won t deliver on another broken promise stated Pringle Be Sociable Share Previous Story PRINGLE CONGRATULATES TEAM ON DONEGAL VICTORY Next Story PRINGLE CALLS ON GOVERNMENT TO INTRODUCE FAIR BUDGET One Comment Vlada 7th November 2012 at 9 51 am Tom It is possible that the left iddpeennents may have up to six TDs on a best guess i e the same ability to hold the balance of power that the Greens exercised in putting FF into power For labour to be so dismissive of people who may hold the balance of power in the Dail is silly and who might be inclined t support a Labour led left coalition is silly With regard to the issue of whether Labour supports the austerity budget Labour have cooperated with FF in ensuring that the Finance Act is passed thrugh this pariement before it is disolved instead of insisting that the Finance Act should be delayed until after the election Labour are also clear that they will comply with the terms of the IMF EU bailout deal and will therefre administer the austerity budget What is morem they are aleady signaling their preferred option is a coalition with Fine Gael On the question of whether Labour could lead a coalition where Fine Gael are the junior partner this is highly unlikely I don t care what the historical votes have been in this election Fine Gael have a far higher rating in the opinion polls than Labour and labour s supprt seems to be still falling With regard to your claim that there are such huge differnces between the SF and Labour traditions is that really true The intellectually dominant part of the leadership of the Labour Party are former members of Democratic Left who trade their recent history back through the Workers party to the Official IRA and who cnsidered themselves revolutinary marxists up

  • PRINGLE CONGRATULATES TEAM ON DONEGAL VICTORY – Thomas Pringle TD
driving job creation Home Press Releases PRINGLE CONGRATULATES TEAM ON DONEGAL VICTORY PRINGLE CONGRATULATES TEAM ON DONEGAL VICTORY By admin Tweet Pin It Updated 24th September 2012 Thomas Pringle TD has today congratulated the Donegal team on their all Ireland victory over Mayo describing it as a massive triumph for the team and every man woman and child in Donegal Speaking on the triumph over Mayo yesterday in Croke Park the Independent TD for Donegal South West stated I am ecstatic over our win yesterday and would like to congratulate all the team on their hard work and dedication which paid off in buckets Being at the game yesterday was an amazing experience and all the fans really showed their support at Croke Park and back in Donegal where the county has been decorated in gold and green for the last few weeks It s been quite a while since we brought Sam home but it was worth the wait added Pringle This is a massive boost for all of us in Donegal something we will remember for years to come and I greatly look forward to welcoming Sam home later today stated Pringle Be Sociable Share Previous Story PRINGLE RAISES CONCERNS ON VETTING BILL Next Story PRINGLE SPARKS CONCERNS ON FUTURE OF HEALTHCARE SYSTEM About admin Contact Info Killybegs Constituency Office Connolly House Bridge Street Killybegs Co Donegal 074 97 41880 thomas pringle oir ie Latest News Look out for my General Election 2016 newsletter February 11 2016 12 59 pm DONEGAL NOW Donegal TD reveals Minister Lynch will not meet with Save Our St Joseph s Campaign February 11 2016 11 24 am DONEGAL NOW Calls on Burton to provide additional funding for community services programmes February 11 2016 11 23 am HIGHLAND RADIO Pringle claims other alternative

  • PRINGLE RAISES CONCERNS ON VETTING BILL – Thomas Pringle TD
300 000 are duplications In one case a trainee nurse who was being vetted by the HSE prior to taking up work experience as part of her training had already been vetted by her local GAA club one month previously but as that was not acceptable to the HSE she had to undergo a further vetting procedure One can envisage a situation in which somebody who gets a job which requires vetting decides to volunteer in a local GAA club and then finds part time employment in a local crèche would be required to undergo vetting three times in a short period when once would be more than adequate The Committee on Justice Defence and Equality has recommended that vetting should be portable That is vitally important and would overcome such scenarios If a time period is defined for vetting and re vetting is also provided for vetting should be portable That would significantly reduce the administrative burden on the 300 000 vettings that take place every year added Pringle But what concerns me is that the provision for re vetting is not envisaged to come into effect for the foreseeable future due to staffing constraints that is not acceptable Re vetting should form an integral part of the Bill and should not be subject to employment embargoes or resource constraints This week we saw the publicising of the long awaited wording for a children s rights referendum and we are putting Children First on a legislative basis Surely a re vetting procedure should be implemented as part of that overall package The Minister should ensure that resources are made available to the vetting bureau so it can carry out its work as soon as this legislation is passed While I welcome such a Bill which gives protection to children

  • PRINGLE CONDEMNS CUTS TO CHILDREN’S MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES – Thomas Pringle TD
Taoiseach today at Leaders Questions the Independent TD for Donegal South West stated Child and adolescent mental health services in the HSE West have been stopped travelling out to meet very vulnerable young people leaving those that depend on the support of the service at real risk if they cannot access the service The Taoiseach stated yesterday that 63m in savings will be made through more focused cash management quoting travel as one of these savings as if it affects no one Because of these cuts only two clinics in Donegal will now run Donegal Town and Letterkenny with Dungloe Killybegs Buncrana and Ballybofey clinics all cancelled This leaves us with a situation where children and young people in dire need of these services are left without help because of this Government s so called cash management Hospitals are being instructed to make massive cuts between now and the end of the year with Letterkenny General Hospital to cut 3 5m more between now and the end of the year just after the recent closure of the gynaecology ward there added Pringle It is ironic that on the day the wording of the children s rights referendum is being introduced we are seeing how this Government is targeting vulnerable children with cuts depriving them of the services they so badly need This is yet again another failure of this Government and their incompetent Minister for Health who instead of reforming the health sector is continuing with closures and cuts at the expense of the needy stated Pringle Be Sociable Share Previous Story PRINGLE CONDEMNS 7M FROM HOUSEHOLD CHARGE FUNDING AGENCY COLLECTING LEVY Next Story PRINGLE RAISES CONCERNS ON VETTING BILL About admin Contact Info Killybegs Constituency Office Connolly House Bridge Street Killybegs Co Donegal 074 97 41880 thomas pringle oir

  • PRINGLE CONDEMNS €7M FROM HOUSEHOLD CHARGE FUNDING AGENCY COLLECTING LEVY – Thomas Pringle TD
LGMA have actually risen and the bill has reportedly expanded since it was set up last year while local authorities are being forced to cut millions from community arts and sports grants as well as local facilities such as parks and libraries due to cuts in Government funding The Government has already cut local funding and as a result Donegal County Council has recently been informed that they must make a further cut of 4m by the end of the year which will have a devastating effect on many local services The Minister for the Environment has claimed that this is due to the low level of registration for the Household Charge in Donegal But it s pretty clear where a lot of this money is going rather than funding local services as it has been purported to be doing The fact is people in Donegal were experiencing cuts in services before the introduction of this charge Already this year library services have been cut by 600 000 resulting in the closures of Killybegs library and Ramelton library as well as the reduction in hours for Donegal Town and Ballyshannon libraries And now we re all being left to foot the increasing bill of the agency collecting this charge added Pringle It is simply not acceptable that it s costing so much to fund the LGMA and that these costs continue to increase for no apparent reason which has raised many questions for me With at least 600 000 properties which haven t registered for this charge it s pretty clear where a considerable amount of it would be going As it stands many people simply do not have the money to pay for this charge and many of those who did struggled to do so This is not what

  • PRINGLE CONDEMNS CLOSURE OF GYNAELCOLOGY WARD AT LGH – Thomas Pringle TD
were consulted as part of this assessment either Management at the meeting today stated that this was not the case but any possible oversights would raise serious questions for me and are something which I will be looking into as a matter of urgency It is essential that such processes must be given the upmost attention particularly when people s health and wellbeing is at stake The outcome of this decision means that there will be 2 6 unisex bed rooms in Surgical Ward 2 allocated to gynaecology patients with management making a commitment that no woman will be without a single room if required while gynae outpatient clinics will continue in the same location as at present added Pringle Earlier this week the Regional Director of Operations for HSE West visited the hospital and told management that the budget must now be cut from 8 8m per month to 7 7m per month This will amount to an astonishing budget cut of 13 2 million per year I understand that hospital management must work within its allocated budget but the budget cuts and recruitment embargo is putting a massive strain on the delivery of key services There are many problems arising at LGH as a result of these cuts and the opening of the Emergency Department and Medical Unit without any additional resources is a threat to the provision of key services there This could leave the hospital in a position where it will not be able to meet the HSE required quality standards in the future Letterkenny General Hospital has had many major achievements over the years which have never been acknowledged But the decision to close the gynaecology ward cannot be ignored The people of Donegal deserve a health service which they can rely on and where
