    of our teachers are highly qualified motivated hard working and innovative The high level of care of the teaching staff for their students was seen as a significant strength in the college s recent Whole School Evaluation by the Department of Education and Science The college offers a varied range of subjects a balanced curriculum of academic and practical subjects at second level and a wide range of courses at Post Leaving Certificate level There is a strong tradition of excellence especially in practical subjects where the balance of practical coursework and examinations provides the opportunity for all students to achieve excellent grades The college has excellent facilities that are modern and well maintained All classrooms have integrated IT facilities while practical workshops have modern up to date equipment The excellent canteen facilities and staff provides a free breakfast daily and a comprehensive lunch menu offering hot and cold meals which are great value The college has an extensive Student Support Programme including the Student Support team the network of class teachers and year heads Home School Liaison Teacher Career Guidance and Counselling service EAL support for students where English is not their native tongue a comprehensive and extensive Learning Support and Special Needs programme and a caring environment for all of our students The Meitheal support programme for 1 st Year students develops leadership skills in our sixth year students The college endeavours to make school activities accessible to all students with a reasonable priced Book Rental Scheme subsidised educational trips Gaeltacht Scholarships and links with third level colleges eg New ERA links with UCD HEAR links with 7 third level colleges including Waterford IT and Carlow IT There is no family voluntary contribution Extra curricular activities are an important part of school life with teams in Hurling Football

  • Breakfast and Lunch Club
    Wednesday and Thursday mornings Breakfast Club also promotes positive relationships for the students in the social setting of the canteen The Breakfast Club is funded by the Department of Social and Family Affairs and administered by the School Completion Programme in the College SUBSIDISED LUNCHES The College is also a pioneer in providing a healthy subsidised lunch dinner daily for all students This entitles them to a choice of a hot dinner or soup and roll brown bread or a choice of filled rolls sandwiches We encourage all students to avail of the hot dinners each day Tickets for the week can be purchased each Monday morning before school begins at a cost of just 10 per week and orders placed each morning Students fill in their order for each day on their order ticket and put into the post box before 9am daily They can order for the week on Monday Dinners are then collected each day with the corresponding collection ticket Any requests for dinner options should be given to Catriona or Vera for consideration This scheme is part funded by the Department of Social and Family Affairs and is administered by the Attendance Officer The current menu consists of Monday Chicken Goujon Wrap with Wedges Tuesday Shepherds Pie Wednesday Chicken Curry Rice Thursday Pasta Bolognese Friday Chicken Burger Potato Slices Or Salad Plate Chicken Ham Tuna CANTEEN Vera Doyle runs the canteen in the school and they also run the Breakfast and Lunch clubs every day Students can buy snacks or drinks at break and lunch time in the canteen Students are not allowed high energy drinks such as Coca Cola Powerade etc Students can purchase juice soft drinks eg Fanta 7 Up etc and water is available free of charge from the cooler Benefits of Healthy
