  • Representing Issues Affecting People with Neurological Conditions - New Web Site
    the National Clinical Programmes in neurology and rehabilitation medicine National Clinical Programmes The Quality and Clinical Care Directorate was established by the HSE to help improve patient care throughout the health system This Directorate under the leadership of Dr Barry White has established a number of clinical programmes to improve and standardise patient care by bringing together clinical disciplines and enabling them to share innovative solutions to deliver greater benefits to every user of HSE services The programmes are based on three main objectives To improve the quality of care to all users of HSE services To improve access to all services To improve cost effectiveness As part of its quality and safety remit the Quality and Clinical Care Directorate is also introducing clinical governance to ensure that patients can get the right treatment It is establishing a national clinical audit programme and developing guidelines to support service user involvement in the health services These standards will be measured and audited to ensure they are delivered accross the system Four clinical programmes have been established in relation to neurological conditions Stroke For more information on this programme click here Epilepsy For more information on this programme click here Rehabilitation Medicine For more information on this programme click here NAI and the Clinical Programmes The NAI recognises that these programmes have the potential to significantly improve service delivery and quality of life for people with neurological conditions and their families The NAI has agreed to work as part of the programme team on the Neurology and Rehabilitation Medicine programmes The NAI is committed to highlighting the following areas through its collaboration with these programmes 1 promoting the importance of service user consultation and involvement at all stages in the design and delivery of services 2 promoting understanding of and recognition of
