  • B&F Business Person of the Month, May 2014 – Dómhnal Slattery, CEO, Avolon | MERC Partners
    5bn in capital since launching including 1 4bn of equity from four leading international investors Cinven CVC Capital Partners Oak Hill Capital Partners and the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation In addition to the equity commitment of 1 4bn Avolon has raised 6 1bn in debt to finance the growth and development of its fleet Debt has been raised from a range of sources including the capital markets and a geographically diverse group of the world s leading commercial banks and specialist aviation banks Today Avolon has a fleet of 202 aircraft serving 47 customers and a team of 55 professionals across six offices The Avolon fleet is the youngest fleet of any of the large aircraft leasing firms in the world today In public debt markets Avolon completed an asset backed securitisation ABS in 2013 marking its first capital markets issuance Following on from this Avolon announced a further new 500m secured debt facility in March 2014 Speaking in March at the time of announcement of the new facility Andy Cronin chief financial officer Avolon said The successful closing of this 500m facility demonstrates our ability to secure flexible cost efficient and long term capital to finance our continued growth The 800m of commitments we have added since January follows additional debt financing of 1 6bn raised in 2013 including our inaugural 636m Emerald Aviation Finance ABS Separately Slattery also conceptualised and structured a joint venture with leading US bank Wells Fargo to form Avolon Capital Partners which is building an additional 500m portfolio of aircraft and also invests alongside the Avolon business Credit Agricole CIB and Deutsche Bank AG have been supporters of Avolon since its launch And now National Australia Bank and HSBC as new lenders in Avolon s strong and geographically diversified lending group Avolon has

    the Group despite challenging market conditions With some tentative signs of improved economic stability and sentiment Kingspan remains focused on its core strategy of delivering innovation prudent management and a widening global footprint Gene Murtagh CEO of Kingspan said Healthy profit Kingspan Group plc is global leader in high performance insulation building fabric and solar integrated building envelopes and has already reported a strong start for 2014 with sales up 10 in 2013 to 1 79bn and trading profit up 14 to 122 8m Continental Europe is showing tentative signs of recovery and the UK market is relatively buoyant across all key sectors Group sales of 561m in the first four months were 8 ahead of the previous year or 9 ahead at constant exchange rates according to Murtagh The general pick up in activity in the UK which we saw in the final quarter of 2013 has continued into the early part of 2014 The Benelux market has shown early signs of recovery and Germany remains solid In North America our Insulated panel business continues to advance driven by market penetration gains The Middle East continues to be quite active and Australia started the year well as penetration continues to grow Insulated Panel sales revenues were up 14 in the first four months of 2014 with all key markets recording growth reflecting increased market activity The sales performance also reflects a good first quarter from Kingspan Energy which should be well positioned to deliver its full year sales target Access Floor sales revenues in the UK were ahead driven by a buoyant London office market and there is some evidence of a potential improvement in office activity in the US for 2015 The Group s next generation insulation Optim R also entered production in the UK during the period

    2018 targets In March Glanbia plc announced 12 growth for its results for the year end January 4th 2014 The results showed continued growth for the firm with strong operating and financial performance delivered on a constant currency basis The results also highlighted total Group revenue growth of 10 5 EBITA growth of 9 2 and adjusted earnings per share growth of 11 9 On a reported basis total Group revenue increased 8 0 EBITA increased by 5 6 and adjusted earnings per share grew by 8 Glanbia attributed these results as being underpinned by a strong performance by Global Performance Nutrition as over 20 branded revenue growth drove a 100 basis point margin expansion and an EBITA increase of 27 9 on a constant currency basis Global Ingredients delivered a good performance also On a constant currency basis revenues increased 11 5 and EBITA increased 8 1 while margins were down by 30 basis points Dairy Ireland s results declined significantly due to the performance of consumer products while Joint Ventures Associates delivered a positive performance overall In addition in 2013 Glanbia announced an ongoing organic investment programme of 112m Commenting on the results Siobhán Talbot Group managing director said Glanbia had another year of double digit earnings growth in 2013 as the Group delivered a 12 increase in adjusted earnings per share Our two global growth platforms performed well particularly Global Performance Nutrition where strong momentum in branded revenue growth and international expansion delivered a 28 increase in profitability on a constant currency basis According to Talbot We expect 2014 to be another positive year for the Group We will benefit from our ongoing organic investment programme good prospects for Global Ingredients and Global Performance Nutrition and an expected improvement in Dairy Ireland We are guiding 8 to
