    CEO Primark Pictured Ian Hyland CEO Business and Finance Barry O Connor partner Merc Partners Paul Merchand CEO Primark With Paul Marchant at the helm of one of Europe s largest clothing retailers Primark s financial performance continues to exceed expectations as does the number of store openings Sales at Primark for the full year are expected to be 17 ahead of last year driven by an increase in retail selling space like for like sales growth and superior sales densities in the new stores The operating profit margin of 13 1 in the first half was higher than last year reflecting the benefit of warehouse and distribution efficiencies and lower freight rates These benefits continued in the second half and with the strong trading over the summer resulting in a low level of markdowns it is expected that the margin for the full year will be slightly higher Primark which employs over 58 000 people including over 5 000 in Ireland increased its selling space by 1 2 million sq ft and opened 28 new stores across Europe in the last financial year ended 13th September 2014 Since then a further three stores have opened in Porto Portugal and in Venlo and Arnhem in The Netherlands This brings the total estate to 281 stores In addition there is a strong pipeline of new stores in Europe extending over a number of years Responding to the increasing scale of its business in continental Europe Primark doubled the size of its warehouse in Torija Spain and the Mönchengladbach warehouse in Germany which is being extended by 60 and will become operational early in 2015 Primark also announced in April that it is to take the Primark concept to consumers in the north east of the USA A lease for some 70

    Directors Operations Sales Marketing Commercial Supply Chain Procurement B F Business Person of the Month August 2014 Albert Manifold Chief Executive CRH Since Albert Manifold took the helm at CRH revenue has increased and the firm has continued in invest in growing the company and through acquisitions In August CRH plc the international building materials group issued its interim results for the six months ended June 30th The results show that sales revenue increased by 4 up 7 in Europe and up 1 in the Americas Like for like sales were up 5 and EBITDA was 27 ahead of first half 2013 results reflecting strong operating leverage While dividend per share maintained at 18 5c the company reported that a portfolio review is progressing well and a multi year divestment programme of 1 5 2bn is actively underway Speaking about the positive results Albert Manifold chief executive said This year got off to an encouraging start with favourable weather in Europe and continuing recovery in the US We are pleased with the strong operating leverage which is reflected in margin improvement for the period CRH invested 130m in acquisitions in the first half of the year and continued to focus on cashflow and capital expenditure outflows Economic indicators continue to be positive in the Americas while in Europe we have seen some easing of trends in recent months Manifold explained Assuming normal weather patterns and no major market dislocations and with the benefit of contributions from acquisitions and cost saving measures we continue to expect second half Group EBITDA to be somewhat ahead of last year s H2 2013 figure of 1 08bn Albert Manifold assumed the role of Group chief executive on January 1st this year following the retirement of Myles Lee Manifold has had an extensive career with

    CEO Dalata Hotel Group Pat McCann s extensive career in the hotel industry came to the fore this year when Dalata floated on the Dublin and London Stock Exchanges raising 265m Dalata is the largest hotel operator in Ireland operating more than 40 hotels with over 6 000 rooms Founded in June 2007 by Pat McCann with investment from TVC Holdings plc and clients of Davy Property Holdings all of the hotels in the Group s portfolio are located in Ireland other than the Maldron Hotel Cardiff Dalata operates 12 hotels under lease agreements one hotel under a long term operating agreement and 27 hotels under short term management agreements McCann recently took a 25 stake in the companies behind the former Jurys and Berkeley Court Durance Investments in a deal estimated to be in the region of 22m McCann was previously chief executive of Jurys Doyle Hotel Group from 2000 to 2006 Since 2007 Dalata has recruited a number of former senior executives from the former Jurys Doyle Hotel Group and has built a centralised management team with expertise across all areas of the hotel business In 2007 Dalata acquired a group of companies from Choice Hotels Ireland that held leases and management agreements for 11 hotels Then in 2008 Dalata rebranded its leased hotels under its own Maldron Hotels brand Dalata currently operates 13 three and four star hotels under the Maldron Hotel Brand with 12 of these hotels located in Ireland and one in the UK In March 2009 Dalata Management Services DMS was set up in order to provide hotel operational and management expertise to receivers and banks DMS provides a complete hotel management solution focusing on the implementation of the operational and physical asset changes and the introduction of the appropriate systems and controls to
