  • Schools Quiz 2016 | Link Credit Union
    Unions ILCU launched its 25th Annual All Ireland Schools Quiz The annual quiz sees over 25 000 school children under the age of 12 take part every year across Ireland The Credit Union Schools Quiz is one of the most exciting events in the primary school calendar consisting of two knock out stages at local and regional level and culminating in a National Final in Dublin s RDS in April 2016 where 100 qualifying teams will compete under the watchful eye of Quiz Master RTE s Marty Whelan The Quiz will be run throughout communities all over Ireland by volunteers from over 300 credit unions and seeks to encourage teamwork among young children under the age of 13 The questions are compiled by primary school teachers and will cover a vast array of topics such as geography history music literature and sport Speaking at the launch of the quiz President of the ILCU Brian McCrory said We are absolutely delighted to launch our 25th Annual Credit Union Schools Quiz For the past 24 years the quiz has been hugely popular throughout the country and we expect this year to be no exception We look forward to seeing our young qualifiers in the RDS next April for what promises to be an exciting final and we wish everyone who takes part in the local and regional qualifiers the very best of luck Registration for the 2016 Schools Quiz is now open with registration forms gone out to the local schools inside our common bond Teams must submit their official entry form by Friday 15th January 2016 to Link Credit Union Our School Quiz will take place on Sunday 31st January 2016 in Mullagh Sports Centre at 3 00p m sharp About the All Ireland Schools Quiz The Quiz is divided into

    four Link Credit Union offices Kingscourt Bailieborough Moynalty Mullagh from the 1st September each year or is available to download from the Resource section of our website I am a current Leaving Certificate student can I enter Yes but certain criteria applies You must be between 17 and 24 years of age on or before the 1st September of that year You must be an active member with Link Credit Union prior to 31st July of that year The applicant must be attending or commencing a full time 3rd Level Course The applicant must intend to pursue or attend a course of study in a recognised Irish or European Third Level Institute I have previously won a Scholarship Can I enter again the following year No applications from previous winners will not be considered in the Scholarship Draw However any student parent taking an Education Loan will be included in our additional draw of Five Scholarships this draw can include previous winners How is the scholarship paid The Scholarship will be paid directly to the winning Students in a lump sum cheque of 750 Winning students will be contacted after the draws take place and they will be invited in to our offices on our presentation night in January to collect their Scholarship SCHOLARSHIP DRAW RULES In order to be eligible for the Third Level Scholarship Scheme Applicants must be an active member with Link Credit Union Ltd prior to 31st July 2015 Entrants must be between 17 and 24 years of age On or before 1st September 2015 Applicants must be attending or commencing a full time 3rd Level Course Anyone in receipt of sponsorship of a course by an employer or are earning an income connected to his her course from an employer is not eligible to apply
