  • ‘Tears’ Concert at the Irish World Academy, Thursday Feb 28th | Irish World Academy of Music and Dance
    Speziale and Lieschen in a staged version of J S Bach s Coffee Cantata Solo concert work has taken her all over Europe and has included Monteverdi s Selva Morale e Spirituale in Cremona Italy and Bach s Mass in B minor with Ton Koopman She has performed and recorded with the Amsterdam Baroque Choir and Orchestra She has also made a recording with Musica ad Rhenum directed by Jed Wentz with whom she performed at the Utrecht Early Music Festival She has worked with many Irish ensembles including Ensemble eX and Resurgam and has also appeared as a soloist at the National Concert Hall Pauline has a particular interest in Baroque and Medieval vocal repertoire and is co founder of the medieval music ensemble Morisca Sarah Groser first played the viol as an eight year old encouraged by her viol playing father whilst waiting to start on the cello She concentrated on the cello until her late teens when she heard viols playing in consort and was captivated by the sound At Manchester University she was able to study both Baroque cello and viol with Charles Medlam of London Baroque and continued on to Rotterdams Conservatorium to study Baroque cello with Jaap ter Linden Later she had lessons with Jordi Savall as an external student at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis Since her studies Sarah has concentrated on the viol and more recently the violone She was a member of the Rose Consort of viols for 15 years and of Sonnerie under Monica Huggett for three years She has also played with London Baroque Fretwork Charivari Agreable and the Dowland Consort In 2001 Sarah moved from England to West Cork Ireland where she is in frequent demand as both a solo bass viol player and as a continuo player In Ireland she has played with The Irish Baroque Orchestra the IBO Concert Soloists Camerata Kilkenny Morisca The Orchestra of St Cecilia Madrigal 75 and as a duo with Sarah Cunningham Yonit Kosovske has performed as a soloist chamber artist continuo player and artistic director in major cities throughout the United States Israel Ireland Hong Kong Spain Colombia and Ecuador Holding degrees in both modern and historical keyboard instruments Yonit concertizes on harpsichord modern piano fortepiano and chamber organ She is at home with vocal and instrumental repertory from the sixteenth to the twenty first centuries spanning large and small scale genres sacred and secular works and collaborative interdisciplinary and multi media projects She has performed under the direction of Monica Huggett Paul Hillier Mark Duley Nigel North Warren Stewart Gary Wedow Stanley Ritchie Linda Pearse and others Yonit has given concerts at the Early Music Festivals in Boston Berkeley Bloomington Chicago and in Quito Ecuador appearing in major concert halls throughout North and South America including the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC Millennium Park in Chicago Illinois the Teatro Nacional Sucre in Quito Ecuador and Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco Upon moving to Ireland in the spring

    and dance of a different region in Africa followed by a social gathering The Taste of Africa at UL is a social event fashioned after a typical social evening as is experienced in many indigenous african cultures requiring creative participation in african music ing dance ing singing and cusine join us to consumate this all African cultural recreational experience where we collectively create our own musics and dances O dyke Nzewi is an African Classical Concert Drummer and a cultural arts education specialist He runs international workshops and writes on the theory and practice ofIndigenous African musical arts practices with a strong bearing on the creative philosophies as it is encountered in many African communities He is currently pursuing a Practice based PhD at the University of Limerick He runs the Centre for Indigenous Instrumental Music and Dance Practices for Africa CIIMDA an organization that re orientates teachers on the use of African indigenous musical arts practices for classroom music education He plays a wide range of unique indigenous African music instruments predominantly from the south eastern parts of Nigeria these include the Quad bell orchestra the twin slit drums gourd shakers notched flute etc RAS Mikey C is an African born American pursuing an MA student in Ethnochoreology RAS has a B F A in Dance from U Arts in Philadelphia RMC has worked worldwide with his company F I V E Productions Raven Symone Pilobolus Dance Theatre and others RMC is the former Director of the Eallaz Dance Studio in Addis Ababa Ethiopia and featured with Aster Aweke Kenny Allen the Sub Saharran Informer as well as co producer of Adama Ethiopia 2000 and Reggae by the Nile RAS s works are a reflection of his spirit and his passion for the performing arts as a cultural and
