  • Exhibition celebrating 20 years of the Irish World Academy launched | Irish World Academy of Music and Dance
    or sing below the wave s back draws on the rich archive of sounds images and memories within the Academy itself as well as on the daily flow of music voices and activity throughout the building and of course the parallel flow of the river Shannon at its banks These four artists have each explored ideas of mapping and tracing the presence of the past throughout their practice They measure the past not in numbers or statistics but in waves the watermark of twenty years of this flow of sound movement people and thought The exhibition also acts as a net for catching more students alumni and others who have engaged with the Academy will add their own scores and sounds over time Therefore while WATERMARK begins with four artists it will widen to include the work of many more At the launch Professor Meg Harper read Dan Beachy Quick s poem and a performance of medieval Irish chant by the Academy ensemble Cantoral Speakers included Dr Sandra Joyce Academy Director Dr Mary Nunan Chair of the Academy 20 Committee Professor Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin Founding Director Dr Niamh NicGhabhann MA Festive Arts Programme Director and Curator of WATERMARK and Professor Christopher Frayling who officially launched the exhibition Watermark is located at the Foyer Irish World Academy and will run until the 30th November Students alumni staff and all those who feel a connection with the Academy can contribute to Fiona Hallinan s sound piece across the Living Bridge throughout the exhibition Further details on contributing to this piece can be found here http www irishworldacademy ie academy 20 watermark take part Photo by Maurice Gunning Filed Under Featured MA Festive Arts News Upcoming Sorry comments are closed for this post Follow Us on Twitter 9 Feb Irish World Academy IWorldAcademy

  • Stepping Stones Scholarships | Irish World Academy of Music and Dance
