    Trials Contact Us Media Sponsorship News Events Latest News Events Upcoming Events Past Events Overview Membership Directors Past Officers Memorandum of Articles and Association The Scientific Committee Dermatology Departments History of the IAD Trainees Royal Academy of Medicine in Ireland Overview Welcome to our new Irish Association of Dermatology IAD website The IAD is an all Ireland professional body of dermatologists The society was established some 50 years ago to advance knowledge on diseases of the skin The IAD fulfils its objective by organising twice yearly meetings in the spring and autumn at which both national and international speakers who are at the cutting edge of dermatology research present their work Our trainee members also present both scientific work and clinical papers for discussion at these meetings The society offers scholarships bursaries for attendance of trainees at international meeting and for electives at centres of excellence abroad The association has 135 members north and south of the Island It has charitable status and will be incorporated as a Limited company in 2015 The support of the pharmaceutical industry has been invaluable in helping the society meets its educational objectives The society has close links with the Irish Dermatology Nursing Association

    with a major interest in dermatopatholgy who has a specialist registration with the MC as a specialist in morbid anatomy and histopathology or the GMC as a specialist in histopathology 1 2 HONORARY MEMBER Dermatologists or Members of other Specialist Societies who have made an outstanding contribution to the practice and study of dermatology including those who are of international standing or have given life long dedication to Irish dermatology 1 3 TRAINEE MEMBER Any doctor who currently holds a National Training Number in dermatology in Ireland or in the United Kingdom A Trainee Member will automatically become an Ordinary Member on receiving the CCST and being included on the Specialist Registrar of the MC or GMC and or being appointed to a consultant post in Ireland or in the United Kingdom 1 4 ASSOCIATE MEMBER Any doctor with a special interest in dermatology who works in a Dermatology Department in Ireland or in the United Kingdom under consultant supervision and who is not on the dermatology Specialist Register of the MC or GMC as long as they continue to work in the post 1 5 OVERSEAS MEMBER Dermatologists living or working overseas who are interested in the work of the Association 1 6 RETIRED MEMBER An ordinary member who retires from the full time practice of dermatology shall automatically become a Retired Member 1 7 The rights and liabilities attaching to any Members of the Association may be varied from time to time by a Special Resolution of the Association 1 8 Ordinary and Honorary Members shall be entitled to vote at general meetings of the Association Each Ordinary or Honorary Member shall have one vote All other categories of members shall not be entitled to vote at general meetings but may attend NOMINATION PROCEDURE Not less than three

    O Hagan and Dr Brian Kirby were elected Dr Kirby to act as the convenor of the scientific committee and Dr Gillian Murphy was proposed as the executive member Since then the following Consultants have also been members of the scientific committee Dr Kevin McKenna Chair Dr Rosemarie Watson executive member Dr Paul Collins and Dr John Bourke Chair In January 2014 it was decided to extend membership of the committee to 6 members As of April 2015 the current members of the scientific committee are as follows Dr Olivia Dolan Chair Dr Susannah Hoey Dr Andrea Corry Dr Fergal Maloney Dr Anne Marie Tobin and Dr Dermot McKenna Following Incorporation the Chair of the scientific committee will continue to act as the link with the Board of Directors providing regular reports and attending board meetings on an ad hoc basis Role of the scientific committee To assist and advise the Board of Directors on themes and guest speakers for future meetings Review and selection of abstracts submitted for the Spring and Autumn meetings Selection of cases for presentation at the Autumn CPC session and for any other IAD scientific CPC meetings which may take place from time to time Originally available as an abstract Word template on the IAD website in 2014 2015 the abstract submission process was redeveloped to create an online process This pathway will be available here hyperlink during open calls Reminders and links will also be sent for all those who are members of the IAD or registered on the abstract submission portal The pathway will be launched for the Autumn 2015 meeting of the IAD The committee will make decisions regarding the number of abstracts accepted as oral poster presentations They shall inform the applicants of the outcome give due instructions regarding presentation and
