    interdisciplinary materials science and technology research centre The MRI is the leading hub for polymer research and development in Ireland with AIT playing a key role in supporting the Irish polymer and plastics industry for more than 30 years Supporting Industry is a central function of the MRI which provides a dedicated research facility offering companies locally nationally and internationally access to world class R D infrastructure expertise and resources Over the last five years alone approximately 900 short medium and long term industry projects have been carried out for some 160 industry partners by our team The MRI has been successful in attracting research and technology transfer funding valued in excess of 6 5 Million within this time Products of the plastics and polymer sector are integral to the products of many large industrial sectors including medical devices pharmaceutical automotive packaging and construction which currently provide combined exports from Ireland in excess of 30 billion The MRI bridges the materials research needs of companies across these and a large variety of other key industrial sectors The MRI is internationally recognised as a leader in collaborative R D projects and its researchers have established an extensive network of distinguished industry

    Ireland Homecoming Study Programme About IHSP Programme Contact Us Developed in conjunction with Ext Joom com Centre for Freshwater Studies CFS and Organic Resources Research Group Environmental research at Dundalk Institute of Technology is focussed around the work of the Centre for Freshwater Studies within the Department of Applied Science The CFS research activities include the following Protection and restoration of ground water surface water and ecosystems both man made and natural processes and the technological transfer of these methodologies and results Microbiological and molecular components of water soil and sediments Water sourcing distribution and sanitation including sustainable water in developing countries Alternative waste management systems Remediation of disturbed ecosystems The group is funded through a number of sources including Irish Aid and HRA The CFS also has several national and international collaborations including DCU Institute of Technology Sligo University of Lund Sweden the Marine Institute and Scottish Association for Marine Science The Centre for Freshwater Studies is underpinned by the Organic Resources Research Group This groups specialises in the following areas Processing of novel biomass and agricultural residues into biofuels and other value added products Environmental biotechnology and biomass utilisation phytoremediation and bioremediation Bioconversion and applied environmental research Research
