    Password Member Login Enter the email address of your account below to receive your password Consultancy market projected to recover in IMCA Member Survey The findings from the April May 2011 Member Survey on the business outlook and the demand for IMCA s services are summarised here with the detailed report available in the Members Area Responses are compared to those in a previous November 2008 Member Survey where relevant The consultancy market is projected to recover slightly in 2011 with consultants having a more positive outlook than in the previous survey Large practices are more positive than small practices and sole practitioners Projections by service offering are positive particularly for Strategy consultancy The outlook by sector is more pessimistic and particularly so for Central Government Other Public Sector and SMEs A slight increase in employment is projected for 2011 at a lower rate than projected for the market Uncertainty re the future is still seen as the main constraint to growth Promotion networking events and CMC accreditation are the most important features of membership and networking events are particularly important for smaller practices Consulting Skills and Change Management are the main CPD priorities with morning seen best for half

  • Public Services Consultancy Spend Almost Double in 2012
    government departments and agencies in 2012 will be almost double that of 2011 31 5m from 16 2m The top four Departments 1 Finance 2 Communications Energy Natural Resources 3 Jobs Enterprise Innovation and 4 Public Expenditure Reform account for 68 of the expenditure A total 10 7m is channelled through the Departments of Finance and Public Expenditure Reform as against 1 8m in 2011 an increase of 8 9m or 58 of the total increase Consultancy Services on Value for Money and Policy Reviews is projected to increase by 83 to 6 2m These reviews across 26 Departments Agencies are targeted to deliver returns in the medium to longer term A provision of 0 6m is also made for the Reform Agenda in Public Expenditure and Reform Consultancy and Other Costs Services is projected at 8 6m mainly in Finance and Health Admin Non Pay covering similar consultancy expenditure is up to 2 3m mainly in Communications Energy Natural Resources and Environment Community Local Government Consultancy expenditure across seven Enterprise agency headings is projected to remain relatively static at 3 8m up 3 Major individual project headings listed separately include 3 3m on a HR Shared Services Centre and

    completed in July August 2012 is now available in the Members Area together with a commentary on the key issues of relevance to the Irish market The main points of note are The Irish market is estimated at 538m with 3 700 consultants the increase on previous years 438m in 2010 is based on extra practices rather than market growth alone Practices with turnover greater than 0 5m 9 of practices account for 68 of turnover with the remainder 32 across a large number of small practices and individual consultants Consultancy has a relatively low share of the economy in Ireland 0 3 of GDP as against 1 14 in the UK and a 0 69 FEACO average Revenues in Ireland were 8 up in 2011 with an increase of 9 projected for 2012 both mainly driven by larger practices all countries surveyed apart from Greece and Portugal reported growth in 2011 The market is mainly domestic with only 10 exported at the lower end of the spectrum of countries surveyed exports are mainly within Europe The support staff consultant ratio was estimated at 12 similar to the UK Average annual revenue per consultant ranges from 125k for practices of
