  • Business Writing Workshop
    recommendations or proposals being made by the person or team preparing the report In particular the materials should be well written clearly structured and any and all findings conclusions and recommendations should be expressed in unambiguous terms The audience should be able to understand clearly what the reports documents are saying This course will cover all aspects of business writing including Understanding the purpose and objectives of the document being written Appreciating who the target audience is When to plan the written document What information is to be communicated Deciding what the report will contain The key steps in drafting the document Language use and composition Correct grammar and expression Ensuring comprehension Time management in writing documents Editing the document and Issuing the document The course will enable attendees to Formulate the right approach to preparing reports documents and getting the structure right before you start to write Deciding the content and the conclusions that you want to make Communicating information in a way that involves the reader and encourages them to agree with the report because of reasoned analysis and Eliminate any potential for ambiguity or misunderstanding How you will learn The course will be a combination of lecture and attendee participation Attendees will be requested to review some materials prior to the course and Clients will receive a copy of the lecture slides and additional notes on writing tips bring your laptop with PowerPoint 2010 The workshop will be delivered by Tony O Brien BE MBA CMC who has written many published reports whilst with KPMG and more recently while Head of Business Consulting with Grant Thornton These include the 1996 Study on the Funding of Local Government in Ireland for the Department of the Environment the Dynamics of the Retail Sector in Ireland for Forfás in 1999
