  • Cooking up a Storm - Doyle Collection Chefs Unite to Hone Their Skills for Charity | Irish Hotels Federation
    the Executive Chef team from The Doyle Collection s eight hotels in Ireland the UK and the US came together for the inaugural Chefs Forum at The Westbury Hotel The team gathered together to share their knowledge expertise and enthusiasm relating to all things culinary Part of the day involved a baking workshop where the Executive Chefs combined their talents shared their Doyle Collection signature dishes and recipes and served up some delicious cakes breads and pastries including a mouth watering Guinness brown bread fluffy afternoon tea scones and lemon rosemary drizzle cake all of which were donated to Focus Ireland after the event With Executive Chefs from London Washington DC and Bristol flying in as well as those from The Doyle Collection s Dublin and Cork hotels the gathering provided the perfect opportunity for the culinary team to share their ideas recipes and the latest food trends from their respective areas The Forum was organised as part of The Doyle Collection s on going multi million investment in all its food and beverage outlets across Ireland the UK and the USA Pat King CEO of The Doyle Collection commented at the forum today This inaugural Chefs Forum is the ideal opportunity for our hugely talented chefs to come together collaborate share knowledge and develop their skills even further At The Doyle Collection we are committed to helping our employees grow and develop in each hotel and as a wider family Food plays a central role in The Doyle Collection experience All of our hotels are located in prime city locations and while they each have their own individual style and design we see food as a common thread which identifies them as part of The Doyle Collection We are also delighted to be able to continue to support the

  • Mid West Tourism Ball | Irish Hotels Federation
    Ivann Tuohy Clarion Hotel and Ciara Hanley Strand Hotel The Shannon Branch of the Irish Hotels Federation held their second annual Midwest Tourism Ball June 16th at the Limerick Strand Hotel with over 400 attendees on the night The ball is part of a drive to raise funds for local tourism initiatives in the Mid West region including Tipperary Clare and Limerick Following on from last year s success Guest of Honour on the night Minister Michael Noonan received an award in recognition of his contribution to the region including the maintenance of the vat rate abolition of airport tax an independent Shannon Airport and many other Tourism initiatives that the government have undertaken including most recently the Wild Atlantic Way He gave a passionate speech to industry reassuring tourism businesses of the support that government is putting in place in particular for SMEs Stephen McNally President of the Irish Hotels Federation spoke about the possibilities offered by Shannon Airport and the drive of the industry in the region He also recognised the importance of retention of the vat rate for the Tourism Industry which has provided nearly 24 000 thousand jobs this year alone On the night raffle prize s raised a staggering amount of 2000 which will go towards the fund This will add to a total fund of nearly 14 000 Attending the ball IHF Midwest Ball at the Strand Hotel were Ger Dollard Clare County Council Ivan Tuohy Clarion Hotel John Crowe Mayor of Clare and Pat McMahon Clare County Council Pictured are Wayne Anderson Angela Duggan Stephen Thornton Michelle Normoyle Melanie Lennon Donnacha Hurley and Michelle O Connor all from the Absolute Hotel Pictured are Ciara Coady Stacey O Callaghan and Mags Egan all from the Radisson Hotel Pictured are Tim Fenn CEO IHF Maeve

  • O’Callaghan Hotels sponsorship for Temple Street Children’s Hospital reaches €10,000 | Irish Hotels Federation
    date by the O Callaghan Hotel Group for Temple Street Children s Hospital The Hospital is one of the O Callaghan Hotels selected charities for 2014 Nine staff from the O Callaghan Hotels brought the sponsorship total to 10 000 recently when the group did the Cycle 4 Life 55k charity cycle event and raised over 2 000 in the process The grueling 55k challenge started and finished in Dunboyne Co Meath Pictured here are the staff who took part back row left to right Bryan O Callaghan Chief Executive Officer Mary Vaughan Director of Human Resources Paul McGreal HR Manager David Malanaphy Group General Manager Gerry Colreavy IT Manager front row left to right Graham Cooley Davenport Hotel Manager Catherine Bodley Director of Sales Marketing Marian Lyne Marketing Executive Noel Healy Head Chef Davenport Hotel Some of the team members had adhered to a busy training schedule in the lead up to the charity event while for others it was their first time on a bike in over 10 years The group managed to stay together for the first five minutes of the race however it wasn t long before the men separated from the boys and the pressure was on to keep up the pace HR Manager Paul McGreal and Head Chef at the Davenport Hotel Noel Healy led the group however Noel got in to difficulties early on encountering two punctures during the race The main challenge for the O Callaghan Hotels team was reaching the top of the Hill of Tara an exceptionally steep hill at the 25k mark but the encouragement and support from the volunteers helped the cyclists and all made it up and over in one piece The entire O Callaghan Hotels team crossed the line within a respectable three hours David Malanaphy
