    to invite you to an evening of nutrition and chicken demonstrations with Manor Winner of the National Brown Bread Competition 2015 Margaret Sexton Roscommon was the winner of the Brown Bread Baking Competition at the NPA 2015 Sligo Map of Guilds History What s On Contacts News Sligo Guilds View ICA Guilds in a larger map Sligo History Sligo Federation was founded in 1954 and has Guilds in all areas of the County such as Ballintrillick Ballisodare Ballymote Beltra Coolaney Dromore West Templeboy Drumcliffe Dunally Geevagh Highwood Gleann Lakeview Carraroe area Maugherow Riverstown Rosses Point Skreen and Strandhill The Federation is represented on Sligo Social Services County Sligo VEC and is a member of Sligo Community Forum and the Gathering 2013 Committee The Federation is represented annually at shows in Beltra Grange and at Riverstown Heritage Day Strandhill Guild host a National Heritage Day event as well as voluntarily keeping Dollys Cottage a 200 year old thatched cottage open to the public during the summer months Records tell us that interest in ICA began in Sligo when Lady L M Crofton Longford House Ballisodare made applicationto join the Association on the 21 st June 1911 For nearly forty years Guilds were established around the county in various locations In 1950 Sligo Leitrim and Donegal formed a joint Federation and in 1954 Sligo had sufficient Guilds to form its own Federation Two former ICA National Presidents were born in County Sligo Camilla Hannon from Ballymote and Kitty Harlin Easkey and both members of Meath Federation A member of Gleann Guild Maura McManus held the position of National Treasurer back to top What s On Calendar Sligo back to top Contacts back to top Patricia Cawley Presents Cheque on Behalf of Sligo Federation ICA to Sligo Cancer Support Centre Patricia Cawley presents

    was the winner of the Brown Bread Baking Competition at the NPA 2015 Tipperary South Map of Guilds Welcome History What s On Contacts News Tipperary South Guilds View ICA Guilds in a larger map back to top Welcome to Tipperary South Federation South Tipperary Federation was founded in 1941 and currently has 23 Guilds Our activities include crafts community development work and representation at national level Craft workshops are held in the Museum in Clonmel and in the Cashel Library Our members support the Clonmel Show and the Clerihan Food Festival Annual Federation Day showcase of guild activities including crafts and produce this is not a competition back to top Tipperary South History South Tipperary Federation is rich in ICA history including the first ICA Summer School on the slopes of Slievenamon in 1929 an enterprise that led years later to the foundation of our all year round Adult Education College at An Grianan Among the first pioneers of that first school on Slievenamon was the late Alice Ryan of Knockarron and Emly Guild who was National President of ICA from 1952 to 1955 Phyllis O Connell joined the Fethard Guild in 1933 and went on to become Chief Organiser in 1943 having served as county and local organizer meantime Her dedication to her task is proven by the recording in the minutes of Emly Guild in 1945 that Phyllis O Connell travelled from Fethard to Emly by bicycle to attend a meeting over 30 miles In the early days of her outstanding work the bicycle was here usual mode of travel to outlying areas Later she covered the country by car She and her sister Helen were experts in the art of Lumra rug making their father Dr O Connell hired a New Zealander who was teaching the

    crafts produce and sport We have demonstrations classes contests at guild and federation level We also organize a number of social events during the year e g an annual dinner and a summer social evening At federation and our guild level we have a great interest and involvement in both local and national affairs In 2012 Liz Wall was the first Wicklow member to be elected National President As she comes to the end of her presidency we want to say a huge thank you to her and congratulate her on a wonderful term of office as National President back to top Wicklow History Wicklow Federation was founded in 1951 From the beginning drama has been our specialty In the early 60s when tasks were farmed out to federations Wicklow was made responsible for drama The first One Act Drama Festival run by the federation was held in 1953 It must be one of if not the longest running drama festivas in the country The festival is now open to both ICA groups and community drama groups In January 2015 we celebrated our 60th Drama Festival We began our celebration of this milestone in the history of Wicklow Federation with an official launch of the festival by our National President The festival was a wonderful success and gave us the opportunity to remember the founder of the festival Gloria Mullalley and all the wonderful Wicklow members who kept the festival going through the decades What s On Wicklow back to top Contacts If you are interested in joining as a member of an existing guild or in setting up a Guild in Wicklow you may contact either Federation President Madge Kenny at Tel 0402 38170 Federation Secretary Susan Kenny sjkenny eircom net who will put you in touch with a

    Castlepollard branch of the ICA meets on the second Tuesday of every month at ten thirty in the parish hall We have fifteen members and the meetings are usually very lively An example of activities we take part in is that we have someone coming to teach us the Alexander technique and I am sure we will all feel the benefit of that We welcome new members One of our members Celia Whyte also trained in the PALS technique and we have availed of this technique also Collinstown Fore Guild Collinstown Fore ICA is a rural based Guild with approximately 20 active members We meet monthly except July and August in Lough Lene Hall Collinstown Meetings take place at 8 pm on the second Wednesday of the month We are a very active group of women Recent courses that we completed include Pilates and Digital Photography Bridge and Art classes continue We held a 1 day course in Decoupage Also in recent months we organised courses in Gardening and Flower Arranging Each year we visit An Grianan the ICA Education College this year we attended a cookery course in Quick and Healty Food given by Marie McGuirke of Bootcamp fame We try to have a Speaker on various topics to address our monthly meetings Our aim would be to attract more members Horseleap Streamstown Guild Horseleap Streamstown ICA Guild was founded on 12th of March 1985 Our guild is very active with 39 members We meet on the first Wednesday of every month Our Guild is in a rural area with members from two small villages Horseleap and Streamstown We have a lot of activity in our guild set dancing music classes crafts computers a walking and cycling club and art We organize day trips this year we had a
