    models to study how they influence knowledge on an epistemological level in the sense of Gaston Bachelard We believe that this issue should be analyzed across all academic disciplines each of which should maintain their differences whilst also recognizing common appointments and hence the consequences of this at an epistemic level in the sense of Michel Foucault This idea is the basis of what we call digital studies The Digital Studies Network was launched by the Institute for Research and Innovation during the 2012 Talks on the New Industrial World It brings together researchers from many countries who share in the fundamental thesis of digital studies and informally explore through seminars and workshops as well as a contributory website digital studies org All network members can participate in this contributory research by publishing their own web content e g text video audio recording etc The call for Digital Studies is available here Digital Studies other members of the Digital Studies Network include University of California Berkeley CalArts Tufts University Ecole Polytechnique de Lausanne Goldsmiths London Durham university Leuphana University of Luneburg Institut de recherche et innovation Universite Technologique de Compiegne For further information about the Digital Studies Network and its activities see the Digital Studies Website http digital studies org SHARE Step change for Higher Arts Research and Education GradCAM is the lead partner of the SHARE project ELIA and GradCAM Dublin jointly coordinate SHARE Step change for Higher Arts Research and Education The European Commission has selected the project for structural funding over the period 2010 2013 36 graduate schools and institutions engaged in third cycle research in the arts take part representing almost all European countries SHARE consists of three networks working independently A network of existing graduate schools to develop innovative cross disciplinary approaches and programmes of

    in The Irish Times regarded as the Irish Music equivalent of an Oscar In the same year he graduated from The Conservatory of Music and Drama achieving first class honors in classical performance and winning the Anne Leahy Medal for the highest academic mark for his dissertation The James Tourish Collection Its Stylistic Significance within Its Cultural Context and later awarded in a nationwide musicology competition by the Council of the Heads of Music in Higher Education CHMHE Within a month after completing his degree he won the prestigious ABBEST scholarship from the Dublin Institute of Technology to complete a PhD entitled The development of complex stylistic identities by way of the musical catalyst theory as a basis for third level education in traditional music and creativity In 2008 Martin was commissioned by TG4 to compose produce and perform the music for their brand television advertisement The More You Look The More You See which won many national and international awards and earned the piece of music national recognition In 2010 he composed the theme tune to a national marathon festival Rith2010 to promote the Irish language and in 2011 composed the trad style variation on a theme for the nationwide Love Live Music festival A song he composed entitled An Gealóg appears on Altan s latest album The Poison Glen whilst a virtuosic piece entitled The Seventh Degree is being performed by Triona Marshal on harp during The Chieftain s 50th anniversary tour Outside of traditional music Martin has written a choral anthem and contributed dance music for the show Cuisle Croke Park at Ireland s largest stadium whilst the famed eastern European band Koshka are featuring the piece One Train Away on their forthcoming album Martin has been involved with many types of music including Balkan Klezmer Rock

    as clarinet and bass clarinet He holds a practice based PhD a first degree honours Masters of Music Jazz Performance from DIT and a Diploma in Jazz Performance awarded by The Guildhall School of Music London His PhD research is focused on solo performance with customised live electronics Seán performs with a hugely diverse range of musicians and artists reflecting his own versatility and interest in cross platform work Within the field of jazz he has worked with leading Irish players including Tommy Halferty Mike Nielsen Ronan Guilfoyle and Simon Jermyn and international artists including Frank Gratkowski Hayden Chisholm Christian Weidner and Christian Skjødt Seán has also played with a range of folk traditional musicians including Caoimhín O Raghallaigh Iarla O Lionaird Martin Tourish Eithne Ní Chatháin Petter Berndalen and Lorcán Mac Mathúna In contemporary circles he has performed with The Smith Quartet The ConTempo Quartet David Toop John Godfrey as a member of The Quiet Music Ensemble as well as a once off performance with Detroit techno legends Underground Resistance He has performed his own music at many festivals such as i e festival The Dun Laoghaire Festival of World Cultures DEAF Bottlenote Festival Cork Jazz Festival Bray Jazz Festival Foligno Jazz Festival Linköping Folkmusic Festival Celtic Connections Dublin Fringe Festival The Dublin Theatre Festival The Kilkenny Arts Festival 12 Points and The Venice Biennale In 2007 his group Trihornophone won Music Network s Young Musicwide Award Seán was awarded the 2008 Cork Jazz Festival Best Young Irish Artist Award In 2009 Dublin Institute of Technology awarded him the ABBEST Scholarship to undertake a practice based PhD in around live electronics practice He was nominated for Best Sound Designer and won Best Production at The Irish Times Theatre Awards 2010 He is a founder member of Bottlenote a collective
