  • Declan Geraghty opens up about his captivating life in exclusive interview (Part One) - Fightstore Media
love it but I m bloody no good at it I ve two left feet I can t get the ball but I can go through people I can dream all I want but I know it s never gonna happen Was there a boxer who inspired Declan to pursue a path more fitting to his dexterity skills I looked up to Bernard Dunne because of what he did And then the likes of Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao But locally Bernard Dunne was a big influence I went to a lot of his fights and loved the way he captured the Irish public and I remember walking to the fights and all the people talking about it You don t get that much in Dublin at the moment Even if you weren t a fan of boxing you knew who he was said Declan The MGM southpaw fighter who fought his last bout as a super featherweight has a record of ten wins and one defeat and will compete for a title in the National Stadium on the 6th February He said Nobody knows it but we are expected to fight for a title in February I m not sure if it will be for the Celtic Irish or International We have already asked for a European title shot but the defending champion didn t wanna fight me at the moment There are a lot of people turning fights down with me I m a bit frustrated when it happens but my friends and coaches are saying I should take it as a compliment How would Declan assess his boxing career so far Whoever has beat me internationally have always been top top lads like Michael Conlan only beat me by two points for a qualifier for the Olympics and realistically I struggled terribly with the weight Don t get me wrong he took off as the years went by but so did I I didn t stay still I ve never been in the ring and thought I can t beat the guy in front of me added Geraghty At present Declan is in England getting quality sparring but he praised the set up of Macklin s Gym Marbella where he prepared for bouts in the past According to Declan fighting in the National Stadium is like going to bed in his own room he s comfortable in the big ring which suits his elusive style He believes Gennady Golovkin and Andre Ward are the greatest fighters on the planet right now And in terms of his own targets for 2016 he said this The goal is to fight five times not pick up a loss and get three to four titles and hopefully be fighting for a European title by the end of the year There is more from Declan Geraghty s interview with Fightstore Media coming up on the site particularly his encounters with MMA fighter Conor McGregor who has supported his career so far Part

round it looked like Souza was on top Yoel looked out on his feet and his shot selection became slower Souza landed some dangerous leg kicks early in the round Romero was pushed up against the fence and Souza started to land some heavy strikes to the body and face Romero was taken to the ground and Souza took half guard He landed a series of elbows to the face of Romero and held him down until the end of the round The decision did not go down well with fans as many felt Jacare Souza had won rounds two and three It is likely that Yoel will now move ahead of Souza in the Middleweight rankings Share on Facebook Share Loading Share on Twitter Tweet Loading Share on Google Plus Share Loading Share on Reddit Share Loading Share on Pinterest Share Loading Share on Linkedin Share Loading Share on Digg Share Share on Delicious Share Loading Share on Stumbleupon Share Loading Share on Tumblr Share Share on Vkontakte Share Loading Share on Xing Share Share on Weibo Share Share on Buffer Share Loading Send email Mail Alastair Magee No limits No rules No fears MMA is like no other sport and has been a passion of mine for many years The combination of striking and grappling is a joy to watch I am the Martial Arts MMA writer for Fightstore Media and currently study Journalism in college http fightstoredublin ie Post navigation Previous article Max Holloway defeats Jeremy Stephens by UD Next article UFC 194 Luke Rockhold is the new UFC Middleweight Champion Similar Articles Kieran O Brien I ve always said that the UFC was within my reach since day one January 18 2016 0 2056 UFC 197 dos Anjos vs McGregor Promo Video January 20 2016 0

  • Andy Lee surrenders world title to Billy Joe Saunders - Fightstore Media
and refused to engage into a slug fest with Lee Ex champion Andy Lee ended the title bout more impressively by out jabbing his opponent in the last three rounds But having lost a 10 7 round in the third it was not enough to claw the decision his way Two judges had Saunders victorious one by two rounds and the other by four The first judge had it a draw The Irishman landed the occasional left hand and used his jab effectively at times But his infamous right hook was unseen and he didn t look like an assertive world champion boxer It s hard to see where Lee goes from here Gennady Golovkin may offer him an opportunity to compete for the WBA and IBF title but realistically that would be a one sided demolition As for Billy Joe Saunders 2016 will see him in some fascinating match ups Will he have a rematch against his rival Chris Eubank jr Or could WBA regular champion Daniel Jacobs be the one to try and upset his unbeaten record The middleweight division is thriving Share on Facebook Share Loading Share on Twitter Tweet Loading Share on Google Plus Share Loading Share on Reddit Share Loading Share on Pinterest Share Loading Share on Linkedin Share Loading Share on Digg Share Share on Delicious Share Loading Share on Stumbleupon Share Loading Share on Tumblr Share Share on Vkontakte Share Loading Share on Xing Share Share on Weibo Share Share on Buffer Share Loading Send email Mail Liam McInerney My obsession with the sweet science started after reading a Sugar Ray Robinson biography While being a student journalist in Dublin I became the boxing writer for Fightstore Media http fightstoredublin ie Post navigation Previous article Conor McGregor There Is Only One Video Next

  • Mohamed Kalf brings first senior title back to Waterford Muay Thai - Fightstore Media
when you note that Kalf usually fights at 67kg but he was confident in his ability and surprised the bigger fighters to take the title He said It was brilliant to bring it back to the gym in Waterford I was over in England in March for a title fight which I lost because I hadn t performed to the best of my ability Getting another opportunity to go back over was great I was really looking forward to it and it was a great feeling to get the victory Fighting away from home was a testing experience for Kalf He endured a hostile environment but loved every minute of it It s not your home town or country so everything you do is jeered Everything he throws and lands is met with lots of cheers and everything I land is met with silence You have to fight him his fans and the whole town Going over there and winning is a big thing especially against the opponent I had because he had everyone behind him It s very difficult to fight outside of Ireland and get the victory he said His preparation for the four man tournament was different to a normal fight Mohamed had to focus more mentally than physically in training He said After the first fight I was in bits I was limping and my elbow was very swollen I could have just let that affect me but I overcame it Going into the first round of the final I threw my first kick and I felt it but I didn t want to let it bother me You have to be mentally and physically strong Fitness is very important in a tournament like that The first fight was three two minute rounds and then the final was five rounds of two minutes Fitness was definitely number one and then I concentrated on conditioning I adjusted mentally too because I had to get my approach to the fights right and have a clear head going into them Mohamed has great confidence in his own ability When I go into a fight I don t really care who s in front of me I m not one of those lads who checks up on what my opponent has what he s capable off etc I m confident in my own ability and what I do in the gym I m in there training every day so I know I m prepared going into my fights I don t have to worry about anything else he said Since returning to the gym Kalf said that the atmosphere has been great He was delighted to reward all their support with the belt and has big plans for the future I want to fight the bigger names in Muay Thai in Ireland My aim is to be up there with the top guys I have to keep fighting my best so I can be the best fighter said Kalf Mohamed
