  • Event Volunteers - What do we do?
    Volunteers do Event Volunteers was setup to respond to various events as well as responding to calls for large groups of people to volunteer at community events such as concerts environmental events sporting events and community events Roles may include community clean ups tree planting stewarding acting as event ambassadors providing information to the general public clean up after events as well as promotong Event Volunteers at our Volunteer Hub Much of the volunteering will be outdoor and include some physical activity so volunteers will be expected to bear this in mind when volunteering to be part of Event Volunteers We will not undertake fund raising roles for an organisation How does it work Organisations apply for the services of Event Volunteers If you are based in Fingal County please contact Fingal Volunteer Centre if you are based outside Fingal contact Volunteer Ireland Once it has been established that the project has the necessary supports including clear volunteering role describitions insurance co ordinator then Event Volunteers will be contacted to inform them of an upcoming event Once they indicate their availability and willingness to participate potential Event Volunteers will then be engaged in orientation and training prior to the event

    in 2011 after an inspiring volunteering opportunity in Thailand with an artistic outreach programme that works with a wide range of social groups and humanitarian organisations Her commitment to volunteering and empowering individuals and communities to develop personally and socially inspired her to volunteer both locally and internationally In 2011 she also volunteered in South India with an NGO working with communities towards social transformation Working alongside the children staff and women in the local community she organised and facilitated Art Therapy group sessions workshops introductory talks training and an exhibition She has also volunteered in community centres throughout Scotland working with youth projects and at a number of festivals and events Elizabeth relocated to Ireland in 2013 and has experienced volunteering and event work roles with various organisations here including an 8 months internship with Event Volunteers Fingal Volunteer Centre Stuart Garland Stuart is Team Leader for Event Volunteers Stuart has worked in a wide range of roles in the voluntary and community sector since 1993 and has a background in youth work As well as leading the National Volunteer Development Agency for a number of years he has direct extensive Volunteer Management experience with managing volunteer teams from 3 to 190 people He is committed to volunteerism and to fostering a vibrant and active community where everyone can volunteer without restrictions regardless of background or capacity and achieve full participation and citizenship by their voluntary activity Stuart was a National Accreditor for European Voluntary Service EVS for seven years and has played a key role in development of volunteer management standards in EVS He was a member of the Associate Faculty of the National College of Ireland and was Lead Tutor on the Certificate in Managing Organisations in the Voluntary and Community Sector Course He was previously a

    longer wish to volunteer with Event Volunteers We would encourage you to contact us before withdrawing and let us know if there is anything we can do to support you in continuing your volunteering journey To do this please send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots You need JavaScript enabled to view it with the subject title Wish To Withdraw Can I swap or choose another volunteer role No if you have been selected for a role it is because the role matches your skills and experience However you may be selected for more than one role and this will be communicated with you directly How can I find out more about the volunteer role that I ve been offered For more information on the roles please go to www eventvolunteers ie and select the event you are interested in volunteering at Do I need to be physically fit to volunteer No there will be a range of volunteer roles available which are appropriate for varying levels of physical fitness However there are times when you may be standing for long periods in the outdoors which may be in the Sun or Rain Will accommodation be provided for volunteers No it will be the responsibility of volunteers to obtain and finance their own accommodation if required during the an event If you are travelling and need assistance please contact us and we will provide you with a number of alternatives If I am a member of Event Volunteers do I have to pay for my own refreshments Each event is unique however we anticipate the provision of support in terms of refreshments for Event Volunteers during each event this is usually hot or cold food and snacks available on site We appreciate that many people have special dietary requirements however due to the nature of us dealing with third party food vendors in off site locations it is not always possible for us to meet these requirements Where you have specific requirements please advise us in advance by email and we will reimburse costs of these foods stuffs such as vegetarian vegan celiac etc Details of refreshment and other benefits is listed on each individual event page on our web site www eventvolunteers ie Do you cover transport costs to and from Event Volunteers orientation training sessions and events Where possible we ensure that all orientation training sessions and events are accessible by public transport and by that we mean no more than one bus or train journeys from Dublin City Centre Where a venue is not accessible by Public Transport we will with our event partners endeavour to provide a shuttle bus to from a public transport hub Details of transport links will be email to you in advance of each event I live abroad what about travel and accommodation costs Travel from outside of Ireland and accommodation expenses will not be provided It is the responsibility of the volunteer to arrange and pay

    in volunteering Our role is to provide information and advice to people interested in volunteering and to organisations looking for volunteers Fingal Volunteer Centre acts as link between such organisations and individuals We will advertise vacancies advise people on their options and help organisations support their volunteers by adopting principles of best practice Recently our staff have been involved in Volunteer Management of a number of large public events including Dublin Tall Ships Festival 2012 NYE Dublin 2013 Malahide s UberFest We are currently working with a number of key players in event management in Fingal to run volunteer programmes for their events These flagship events will include Flavours of Fingal 2014 and the Giro d Italia stages in Fingal The events will include major public events in Fingal in 2014 We will be recruiting selecting training and managing volunteers for these programmes Overview of the Intern Role The Event Volunteer Management Intern will play a key role in each event and will assist and support the office team The aim of the internship is to provide valuable insight and experience in event and volunteer planning co ordination and
