    Media News National News Strategy Media Kit News Archive All Events School News Newsletters Publications Resources Annual Reports Accounts Resources Advocacy Our Campaigns EqualAccess EqualRespect Educate Together To Apply for Patronage of Six New Schools for 2017 and 2018 Research Annual Survey News News Releases 15 000 Pupils Now Attend Educate Together National Schools 28 Jan 2013 2 30pm Posted in Educate Together national school pupil numbers Pupil numbers in Educate Together National Schools have exceeded 15 000 for the first time The annual school returns for 2012 show 15 353 pupils enroled in the 65 schools in the Educate Together network The data collated from school statistics submitted to the Department of Education and Skills also shows 918 teachers and over 250 Special Needs Assistants in employment in the Educate Together sector Paul Rowe Educate Together CEO commented 2013 marks 35 years of Educate Together schools in Ireland To grow pupil numbers by 1 500 in one year and break the 15 000 mark on this anniversary is a great achievement for a voluntary community initiative The sustained growth in pupil numbers shows that more and more parents want to send their children to Educate Together schools The growth in pupils numbers reflects both the new schools that have opened in recent years 5 in 2012 and the extension of school buildings within the network In the last two years alone Educate Together schools in Tyrellstown Donabate Swords Lucan East Balbriggan Mullingar Holywell and Thornleigh have moved to new buildings or been expanded to meet growing demand Even if no further Educate Together school was opened the current network has a total capacity for 20 000 students Paul Rowe again Educate Together is the fastest growing sector in primary education and you can t argue with the numbers Is is especially pleasing to me that a movement which Florrie Armstrong the first Principal of the Dalkey School Project was told would finish her career if she joined now employs over 1 200 teaching and learning professionals The prospects for continued growth of the multi denominational sector are also positive for Educate Together Two new primary schools have already been sanctioned to open in 2013 and the results of parental surveys in December show interest in five other areas for Educate Together schools to be established The Forum on Patronage and Pluralism where a further 38 areas around the country are currently being surveyed could indicate further parental interest in Educate Together schools The sucess of Educate Together at primary level has led to the sanctioning of three second level schools due to open in 2014 The demand for places at primary level is now being translated into increased demand for Educate Together second level schools A public meeting last week in Wynn s Hotel saw hundreds of parents attending all seeking an Educate Together second level school to be established in the Dublin City area Political support for the campaign is broad and all parties were represented at the

    To Apply for Patronage of Six New Schools for 2017 and 2018 Research Annual Survey News News Releases Educate Together Delighted as Seven Schools to Get New Buildings in 2013 10 Dec 2012 9 00 Posted in new school buildings primary post primary Educate Together Department of Education and Skills Seven Educate Together national schools will have new permanent buildings constructed in 2013 The Department of Education and Skills released its list of projects to go to construction in 2013 today In addition to the new primary buildings three Educate Together post primary school projects were also announced Commenting on the project list Educate Together CEO Paul Rowe said We are delighted with the news It is especially good news for Esker ETNS Carrigaline ETNS and Gaelscoil an Ghoirt Álainn which have all been campaigning for permanent accommodation for many years These new buildings will have a hugely positive impact on their respective school communities Esker Educate Together National School was opened as an emergency school in 2007 to serve the growing Lucan school population It initially shared space in Adamstown Castle ETNS and when it outgrew that space moved to prefabs erected for Adamstown Community College The school now has over 300 pupils and twenty teachers Paul Rowe again The announcement of Esker ETNS s new building is especially welcome Educate Together opened the school at the Department of Education s request in 2007 and we are delighted the see the Department is honouring the commitment given at that time for a new school Another long running struggle will be resolved in 2013 with the completion of Gaelscoil an Ghoirt Álainn s permanent school building in Cork City The school is under the patronage of An Foras Pátrúnachta and is also a member of Educate Together It has been

    News Archive All Events School News Newsletters Publications Resources Annual Reports Accounts Resources Advocacy Our Campaigns EqualAccess EqualRespect Educate Together To Apply for Patronage of Six New Schools for 2017 and 2018 Research Annual Survey News News Releases Principal Appointed for New Tramore Educate Together N S 22 May 2014 17 20 Educate Together is delighted to announce that Eilish Kelly has been appointed as Principal for the new Educate Together national school which is to open in Tramore in September 2014 Originally from Wexford Eilish has been living in Dunmore East for the past decade and for the last eight years has been teaching in the local Killea Boys School An excellent and committed teacher Eilish is held in high esteem by colleagues parents and in particular by pupils and past pupils alike As Deputy Principal of the school she has been involved in many transformative initiatives in the school creating a living classroom school garden introducing the Roots of Empathy Programme and teaching German in the Senior Classes Eilish is looking forward to her role as Principal of the new school and has a wonderful vision for the school I believe that children learn by doing and I encourage fun active and hands on learning in the classroom I will provide opportunities for the development of empathy and for empowering children to make decisions and become leaders Eilish continues I believe in the potential of every child and I see our role as equipping them with the necessary skills to achieve their full potential I will work tocreate a vibrant school environment where pupils staff and parents of Tramore Educate Together are valued and supported I am delighted to have this incredible opportunity and am proud to be part of the start of the Educate Together journey in
