    to Make Primary Children Think and Act 6 Feb 2013 10 00 Posted in online educational resources social justice Educate Together The contemporary story of an immigrant child s journey to Ireland has been developed as a new online teaching resource for primary children Thinkandact ie will be launched by Frances Fitzgerald Minister for Children and Youth Affairs in Dublin Civic Offices at 5pm on Thursday February 7th The website s tells Abbi s story re creating her experiences in a new country through animation and multi media resourses Pivotal Arts Studio formerly FOMACS developed the web and multi media content and the curriculum and teaching resources were developed by Educate Together Director of Pivotal Arts Áine O Brien describes Think and Act as a pioneering collaborative project that listens carefully to the voices and rich perspectives of children The animations capture the real life experiences of what it means to live in a globalised world and to negotiate and respect difference in the local classroom Think and Act draws its storytelling and principles of social justice from the thinking acting and ethical wisdom expressed by a new diverse younger generation Primary Education Officer for Educate Together Fionnuala Ward stated Think and Act tackles a range of issues in age and classroom appropriate scenarios and stories The animation and learning resources really engage children getting them to think and talk about the world around us and hopefully in the future to act as enlightened and compassionate citizens The website has been built around a set of animated films which were developed with support from Atlantic Philanthropies and the Irish Film Board The teaching resources web content and technical development were supported by Atlantic Philanthropies State Street and Allianz with engagement from the Immigrant Council of Ireland The immigrant experience is

    to Grasp Historic Opportunity on Patronage Advocacy Media News National News Strategy Media Kit News Archive All Events School News Newsletters Publications Resources Annual Reports Accounts Resources Advocacy Our Campaigns EqualAccess EqualRespect Educate Together To Apply for Patronage of Six New Schools for 2017 and 2018 Research Annual Survey News News Releases Educate Together Encourages Parents to Grasp Historic Opportunity on Patronage 3 Feb 2013 2 00 pm Posted in parental survey forum on patronage and pluralism parental choice Educate Together Educate Together is calling on parents to have their say on primary school patronage before it is too late A national parental survey currently being taken in 38 towns and areas around the country will close on Friday February 8 th The online survey asks parents in areas with only denominational school options what other school types they would like available in the future The results will decide the patronage of around 44 schools the Catholic Church is potentially reassigning from its 3 000 primary schools nationwide Educate Together CEO Paul Rowe is encouraging parents to engage Parents need to be aware of the historic opportunity the parental survey presents This is the first real chance parents have had to help direct the kind of primary school system they want for their children By expressing their preference now they give themselves and future generations a choice of school types currently only available to 3 of primary school pupils Surveying parental preferences on school types was one of the recommendations of the 2012 report of the Forum on Patronage and Pluralism Online surveys were piloted in 5 areas in October 2012 the results of which all showed a strong preference for Educate Together The remaining 38 areas proposed by the Department of Education and Skills have been surveyed over the
