    Recreation Category Bill joined the Croke Park Voluntary Stewards Team in 1976 He has held nearly every stewarding position in the Stadium including Hill 16 the Hogan Stand the dressing rooms and sideline duty supervisor and recently Chief Steward As Chief Steward Bill has sole responsibility for recruiting and training new volunteers This involves organizing the Voluntary Stewards Annual Awards Dinner and the Annual Mass for all volunteers and volunteers family members who have passed away With 34 years of experience his voluntary contribution is an essential asset to Croke Park Stadium and the GAA community Bill s exceptionable leadership skills are demonstrated through how well the volunteers work together as a team Bill has an ability to bring people from all walks of life together The personal impact which he has made in Croke Park is immeasurable Bill s exceptionable leadership skills are demonstrated through how well the volunteers work together as a team Croke Park was presented with a separate award for the Organisation of the Year Award for its voluntary management A vital part of the GAA is volunteering and is one of the traits that underpin the special ethos that the Association is renowned for All over the country every day thousands of volunteers ensure that the Association continues to grow from strength to strength Croke Park Stadium has over 350 voluntary stewards that come in for every match day Without the hard work and dedication of the Voluntary Stewards Croke Park would not be the world class stadium that it is Patrons are met at their seats with GAA ethos of assistance and banter teams and county boards all met and greeted on arrival dressing rooms stewards on hand this is always done with utmost professionalism and courteous and stems from the top Croke Park

    stadium tours to the schedule The GAA Museum will remain open until 20 30 on Thursday evenings throughout September 3 rd 10 th 17 th with special All Ireland Final themed tours running at 18 30 and 19 30 These themed tours will highlight what goes on before the turnstiles open on All Ireland final Sunday in Croke Park As well as visiting the dressing rooms media centre and the players lounge and walking pitchside through the players tunnel visitors will hear about preparations for the big match and the huge team effort which goes into welcoming 82 300 people into the stadium on All Ireland Final Sunday The tours will focus on all aspects of All Ireland Final day and visitors will learn about the movements of the minor and senior teams the staff and voluntary stewards and the match officials as well as dignitaries and invited guests Those attending the All Ireland Build Up tours will also have the chance to take photos as they lift the Sam Maguire and Liam MacCarthy trophies which will be out on display in the museum The All Ireland Build Up Tours will also run on Saturday September 5 th and Saturday

    outstanding dedication and service The safety of every visitor to Croke Park is always our primary concern and ensuring specific stadium staff can respond to signs of distress in a visitor is a critical part of their training On June 10th that training became very real for John Joe Daly and Emma Newman two of our tour guides in the GAA museum when a gentleman took ill during a VIP visit from the 1965 winning All Ireland U 21 Kildare Team With the administration of CPR and the use of the DEFIB on site they managed to save the man s life with their quick thinking actions The whole staff team within the vicinity pulled together to keep the situation under control remaining calm and conducting themselves in a manner that kept the situation moving Danny Clarke a member of our stadium security team also saved a young man who took ill during the recent X Factor auditions here in Croke Park Danny was told by the event paramedic on duty that his quick response and skill was responsible for saving the young man s life on the day We wish both our visitors future health and happiness and are
