    Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Aogán Ó Fearghail speaking with members of the Tuesday Club from Fairview at the 2015 Croke Park Community Fund Recipients Reception Welcoming guests to the reception Uachtarán Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Aogán Ó Fearghail spoke about the stadium s commitment to the local community and thanked the local residents for the difference their work makes to the lives and well being of their neighbours There are many ways that the GAA is investing in the local community around Croke Park Stadium and at the heart of this investment is the Croke Park Community Fund Since 2009 it has allocated over 600 000 in funding to local schools residents associations voluntary organisations and sports clubs and we are very proud of all the work that is done by local groups with our support Uachtarán Ó Fearghail ontinued The most precious resource we all have to give is our time Community projects from Summerhill Ballybough Clonliffe Iona Fairview Dorset Street East Wall and the North Strand all successfully applied to the Croke Park Community Fund last year and I particularly want to thank and acknowledge the members of every local community group represented here tonight for the time they give to help make a difference to the happiness and well being of others living in their communities Local resident Mick Weafer of the Ballybough Community Group explained how the Croke Park Community Fund helped them in 2014 Last December we were able to bring nearly 100 local children on a very special trip to see Santa at the Kia Ora Mini Farm in Wexford Thanks to the support we received from Croke Park all the children had a really great day out The stadium fund makes a big contribution to the local community and the funding we received from Croke

    ideals including the Irish language music and dance and the values of the GAA its members and volunteers Principles PCT recognise that the stadium and its associated events and activities have an impact on the environment the economy and the community and is committed to promoting positive impacts while identifying and minimising any negative impacts It is PCT policy to do all that is reasonable to ensure that key sustainability impacts relating to the life cycle impact of events procurement utilities construction transport employees visitors customers and the community in general are assessed and reviewed financially socially and environmentally The policy will support our extensive health and safety initiatives Through its relationship with GAA clubs and members around the country PCT will seek to promote these principles and the principles of stewardship integrity inclusivity and transparency and to share its learning and experience with other Irish sporting and cultural organisations Committed to the principal of best practice the stadium is currently certified to the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System and ISO20121 Sustainable Event Management standard PCT is committed to being a leader within the field of event sustainability management fulfilling all legal and regulatory environmental financial and social obligations regularly evaluating compliance with such requirements and maintaining documentation on operating procedures relating to key sustainability issues Providing training and information to all stakeholder groups stakeholders will be made aware of and where required trained in the application of our Sustainability Policy Contractors and supply chain partners will be made aware of the PCT Sustainability Policy and of their obligations to support policy in this area Treating employees with fairness equality and respect at all times Where possible PCT will seek to identify positions and opportunities for stakeholders with disabilities and to support our principle of volunteerism Setting and achieving Sustainability

    our environmental responsibility underpins our core values within the operation of Croke Park Stadium including its responsibilities as a member of the local community Páirc an Chrócaigh Teoranta recognise that the stadium and its associated events and activities has an impact on the environment and is committed to continually minimising identified impacts and associated aspects The stadium functions under an Environmental Management System and is committed to The principal of best practice the stadium is currently certified to the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System and ISO20121 Sustainable Event Management standard and BS OHSAS 18001 2007 Safety Standard Fulfilling all legal and regulatory environmental requirements and regularly evaluating compliance with such requirements The prevention of pollution by managing stadium events and activities in an environmentally responsible manner Setting and achieving objectives and targets that ensures continual improvement in environmental management Promoting efficient energy management and utilisation Monitoring water usage and encouraging water conservation such as reducing purchased water by 5 in 2014 and rolling out the use of solenoid valves Managing waste and developing recycling initiatives within the stadium with a target set of 0 to landfill target by the end of 2014 Communicating this policy and relevant environmental procedures to

    Park is celebrating reaching a major sustainability milestone with 0 of stadium waste now going to landfill This green goal started in 2008 and has taken the stadium six years and lots of hard work to hit the 0 target How Have We Done It A three bin system was introduced with coded signage red for general waste green for mixed dry recyclables and brown for compostable items food waste grass cuttings paper handtowels compostable packaging Croke Park staff have become waste watchers and all mixed waste undergoes a special audit after each event to ensure waste is correctly separated and disposed of before it leaves the stadium Getting visitors and patrons involved was one of the challenges and talking trash and explaining the sustainability objectives to visitors was key to achieving the ambitious target An eye catching poster campaign over the course of the season highlighted sustainability achievements reached with the support of stadium visitors Special messages were played on the big screens during matches and major events A Green Ambassadors initiative with local Green Flag primary schools in the Croke Park area was launched and special Sustainability Awareness Days were held during which Green Ambassadors helped Croke Park
