    an appreciation of the values culture and history of Gaelic games These aims will be pursued through preserving researching interpreting exhibiting and providing access to our heritage and honouring those who have made an outstanding contribution to our national games The GAA Museum celebrates Ireland s national games of hurling and Gaelic football and the GAA s enormous contribution to Irish sporting cultural and social life since its foundation in 1884 Located under the Cusack Stand of GAA headquarters at Croke Park Stadium in Dublin the museum is open daily throughout the year Since it first opened in the summer of 1998 the GAA Museum has developed into one of Dublin s top visitor attractions and is consistently ranked as one of the Top 5 Visitor Attractions on the influential TripAdvisor website making it a must do for visitors to the captial In 2010 the museum unveiled the first phase of a major refurbishment which included a new Café temporary exhibition space updated match footage interactive games area and a magnificent new trophy display In May 2013 the museum completed the final phase of this refurbishment project and now boasts all new exhibition galleries a Hall of Fame and an even bigger interactive zone for visitors of all ages The all new GAA Museum which offers an unrivalled state of the art visitor experience The museum s exhibition galleries vividly illustrate the history and development of Gaelic games from ancient times to the present day The museum traces the birth and growth of the GAA at home and abroad and its unique role in the national movement and cultural revival in Ireland It houses a vast collection including hurleys jerseys trophies medals programmes publications and banners Visitors can also test out their own hurling and football skills in the interactive
