  • Today FM’s Shave or Dye or Oh My! marks 6 years | Communicorp
    13 year old Conor Byrne from Lucan had his head shaved by Ian Dempsey on the Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show The Lucan United superstar signed up for Shave or Dye or Oh My in memory of a school friend who recently passed away after a battle with cancer Conor who is in first year in Gaelscoil Naomh Padraig has raised over 1 500 for Shave or Dye or Oh My and the show arranged for him to meet Irish soccer legend Robbie Keane to congratulate him for his efforts The Anton Savage Show then broadcast live from Style Club on Dublin s South William Street where it hosted the first ever 50 Shaves of Grey Over the past few weeks the show recruited listeners willing to shave off their grey locks all in the name of charity The idea was a brainwave of listener Andy Garland who will participate in the event The final event saw over 60 participants have their heads shaved in the run up to midday Phil Cawley standing in for Dermot Dave held a live broadcast from Boots in Blanchardstown to coincide with Boots Blue Hair Day which raises more money for the Irish Cancer Society Today FM will also hosted synchronised ohmy selfies on the airwaves throughout the day including on The Louise Duffy Show this afternoon Louise encouraged her listeners to share their Shave or Dye or Oh My selfies at a particular time in the hope of boosting donations throughout the day This evening on The Last Word with Matt Cooper Independent TD Mick Wallace will be chatting to Matt about dyeing his famous blonde locks pink in support of the campaign Since its launch in 2010 over 30 000 Shave or Dye events have been held across the country by listeners and
