  • Europe to open higher on late oil surge, ahead of BOE | CMC Markets Ireland
is expected to reinforce this low interest rate narrative with downgrades to both inflation and growth forecasts expected in light of the sharp declines seen in oil prices since the November bulletin however one should guard against a too dovish narrative given how far market expectations are for when interest rate rises are expected to rise These are currently set out into 2017 with even some talk of a potential rate cut which given recent data seems way too pessimistic Given that and the fairly robust economic data it would not be surprising to see these risks played down particularly given how short of sterling some market participants currently are EURUSD the euro broke out yesterday hauling itself above the 200 day MA with the potential to move towards 1 1200 and on to 1 1400 We need to stay above the 100 day MA at 1 0970 to keep the upward momentum intact GBPUSD continues to make progress above the 1 4350 area on the way to a potential retest of the 1 4800 area Having seemingly found a short term floor at the 1 4220 30 area we also have support at 1 4350 EURGBP continue to remain stuck in a range either side of the 0 7600 level with support at 0 7520 and resistance at 0 7660 As long as we hold above 0 7480 the risk remains for a return to the 200 week MA at the 0 7900 level USDJPY having unexpectedly fallen back below the 118 20 level we now look set for a retest of the 116 00 lows after the failure at the 200 day MA at 121 60 CMC Markets is an execution only service provider The material whether or not it states any opinions is for general information purposes only and does not take into account your personal circumstances or objectives Nothing in this material is or should be considered to be financial investment or other advice on which reliance should be placed No opinion given in the material constitutes a recommendation by CMC Markets or the author that any particular investment security transaction or investment strategy is suitable for any specific person Sub menu Latest Blogs Oil truce sends WTI lower while stocks continue to recover North American traders return to oil production truce and fading China fears UK inflation in focus after McCafferty U Turn Stocks and oil rebound as positive news rebuilds confidence What s up with Yellen Gold and JPY today Open a live account Free demo account Losses can exceed your deposits Dublin Trader Network This forum event will be hosted by our Chief Market Analyst Michael Hewson and guest speaker Paul Wallace in the Gresham Hotel Dublin Register now UK inflation in focus after McCafferty U Turn Posted 16 02 2016 05 40 by Michael Hewson Read more Further reading Understanding the risks of CFD trading Relevant links Spreads and margins Trading from charts Risks of spread betting Public Relations Getting started New

  • Oil concerns once again drag on sentiment. | CMC Markets Ireland
report for January could shift the debate further onto much more dovish lines if as expected it also slips further A reading of 55 1 is expected down from 55 3 while the latest ADP Employment report is expected to show 193k new jobs added down from the 257k added in December The bumper jobs numbers in December could well have been boosted by temporary pre Christmas hiring and this effect could well tail off in January EURUSD the euro continues to range trade but it is eking high towards the 1 1000 area where we have the 100 and 200 day MA s Key support remains between 1 0775 and 1 0800 with a break retargeting the 1 0600 area GBPUSD this week s break through 1 4350 and last week s high is an encouraging sign that we might well have seen a short term base and potentially see a return towards 1 4800 We still need to hold above the 1 4220 30 area or run the risk of a move towards the recent lows at 1 4085 EURGBP the drop through the lows of last week suggests we could well head back towards the 0 7480 area As long as we hold above 0 7480 the risk remains for a return to the 200 week MA at the 0 7900 level USDJPY last week s break above 120 00 saw a sharp move towards the 200 day MA at 121 60 which has so far held If we fall back below 119 80 we could well see a move back towards 118 20 Only a move back through the 200 day MA has the potential to retargets a move back towards 123 00 CMC Markets is an execution only service provider The material whether or not it states any opinions is for general information purposes only and does not take into account your personal circumstances or objectives Nothing in this material is or should be considered to be financial investment or other advice on which reliance should be placed No opinion given in the material constitutes a recommendation by CMC Markets or the author that any particular investment security transaction or investment strategy is suitable for any specific person Sub menu Latest Blogs Oil truce sends WTI lower while stocks continue to recover North American traders return to oil production truce and fading China fears UK inflation in focus after McCafferty U Turn Stocks and oil rebound as positive news rebuilds confidence What s up with Yellen Gold and JPY today Open a live account Free demo account Losses can exceed your deposits Dublin Trader Network This forum event will be hosted by our Chief Market Analyst Michael Hewson and guest speaker Paul Wallace in the Gresham Hotel Dublin Register now UK inflation in focus after McCafferty U Turn Posted 16 02 2016 05 40 by Michael Hewson Read more Further reading Facebook how low can it go Relevant links US Earnings Season Trading from charts
