    organisation Comhairle welcomes comments about how we deliver our services our policies and procedures and how our customers are treated by our staff We recognise also that complaints may arise from time to time and to that end we have put in place the following procedure which aims to ensure any complaints are dealt with in an open fair and consistent manner You can make a comment or complaint in person by phone fax e mail or through the Comhairle websites Comhairle staff will try to resolve your issue in an efficient and effective manner maintaining our standards of timeliness and courtesy Where a particular complaint needs further investigation the matter should be referred to the Customer Service Officer Comhairle staff will provide you with contact details which are also available on the Comhairle website www comhairle ie The Customer Service Officer will acknowledge receipt of complaints within 5 working days and will issue a reply to the complainant within 15 working days of receipt This response will be made through your preferred method of communication where possible Where a mistake has been made we will apologise and make every effort to rectify the issue and prevent it recurring Comhairle

  • Kilkenny CIC overall winner of People of the Year Award
    2014 This year Kilkenny CIC celebrated 40 years of service to the people of Kilkenny and were honoured to be named as one of the finalists in this year s Kilkenny County Council Rehab People of the Year Awards It came as a great surprise when it was announced that they were awarded overall winners in November Each year members of the public are called upon to nominate people from Co Kilkenny who have made a difference to the lives of others increased civic pride or through acts of bravery have touched the lives of the community The awards are made in association with Rehab Kilkenny Local Authorities and the Kilkenny People newspaper Mayor Andrew McGuinness who presented the award to Kilkenny CIC said he was proud and honoured to present the award to Kilkenny CIC and said It is well known that staff at the centre go above and beyond the call of duty when it comes to fighting for social justice and ensuring every citizens has access to their rights He went on to say whether it s helping elderly people to complete complicated application forms or informing those in distress of their rights the staff and volunteers at the Citizens Information Centre have put themselves firmly in the corner of the local community and have been a shining light for many local families and individuals at times of need and distress They truly deserve this honour Earlier in October Kilkenny CIC celebrated 40 years of service with a special celebration in the CIC Founding members Anne Reynolds Bowen Elaine Bolger and John O Neill spoke at the event recalling the values upon which the service was founded Sarah Drea Development Manager and Susan Shanahan Citizens Information Board also spoke thanking volunteers and staff for their work over

  • Clondalkin CIS Celebrates 25 years
    volunteers and employees past and present The service was formed by local people with an ethos of service to the local community and has grown to become a service that helps in the region of 13 000 people in the Clondalkin and Lucan area each year It all began in 1989 when a handful of dedicated volunteers came together to help improve the lives of others in their own community They received training with the then National Social Services Board and they had the service up and running in 1990 Many of the original founders are still involved with the service today In January 2004 the service became Clondalkin Citizens Information Service incorporating Lucan CIC which itself celebrated 30 years of service in 2012 Since 2002 Clondalkin has piloted and implemented many advocacy projects including an innovative local disability advocacy service Today the service manages a Regional Advocacy Support project with an Advocacy worker who supports the development of Advocacy in all Citizen Information Centres in Dublin One of the highlights over the years included a visit from President McAleese in 2009 and more recently the service achieved the EFQM GOLD STAR validation a quality award for excellence that is
