    www etenders gov ie search for Cashel Chamber of Commerce The notice became active on E Tenders on the 17 th of July http www etenders gov ie search show search view aspx ID JUL364335 The deadline for receipt of sealed tenders is Wednesday August 8 th at 3 30 pm There is no appeal process available with this tender and no discussions will be entered into between the Chamber and businesses that are not successful in their application The Cashel Chamber of Commerce is embarking on a 3 year plan to upgrade the Town s Christmas lights Year 1 will require the design supply erection maintenance and dissembling of lighting on Main Street Cashel the lighting should span the main street in at least 16 passes The Chamber is open to your design ideas which should consider the whole of the town in their scope Erection of the current lighting stock will also be required on a number of other streets within the town On erection the works should be monitored and serviced by the selected company Your ability to service faults within a 1 hour call out period is essential Daily monitoring is required and any defects must be rectified within 1 hour of their being notified to the winner of the contract by designated Chamber members this could involve out of hours maintenance work All maintenance work is to be carried out at the contactor s expense penalties are in place for non rectification of faults and for delays in their solution penalties will be applied to the final staged payment Christmas lights should be fully in place and working by 6th December 2012 The lights should be removed from the townscape by January 8th There is a possibility of extending the contact to 3 years if

    done to enhance biodiversity in the town With the setting up of the South Tipperary County Council funded Cashel Biodiversity Group things came together in January of this year when teams of volunteers started to clear the site The area was strewn with small rocks and large boulders and these were gleaned from the site and used to make a sunny bank Ideal for butterflies according to Cashel Biodiversity group leader Sean Laffey who designed the landscaping he explained the rocks provide a hot spot where butterflies can warm up early in the morning in fact the whole area was designed with butterflies in mind He told us that the plants were bought from local nurseries and a small willow hedgerows was built up from cuttings that were taken last November The wild flower area is from a mixture of sources we wanted to show just what might grow from those packets you can buy in supermarkets or garden centres and we d expect them to give a short burst of colour from July onwards The bulk of the seed was from a specialist mixture made up of only Irish native plants the design is such that these will dominate the meadow in the next two or three years and we can expect the site to become far more complex and subtly coloured as it ages I m looking forward to seeing how many butterflies we can attract to the area over this summer season Sean told us He was full of praise for the Transition year group who are pictured here with Maureen Derby and Paul Monks of Cashel Tidy Towns They were great fun to work with and have made a huge difference to what was a disused section of the car park only 5 months ago Things
