    election I will be out at the doors in Dun Laoghaire asking people what their main concerns are and what issues trouble them These are areas I feel need to be urgently prioritised if we are to aim for a fairer and more equal society Ensuring fairness and quality of life in our community the provision of adequate childcare healthcare housing and education Protecting our most vulnerable fighting for rights

    my under warranty laptop which was sent for repair in early September So I still had no Mac And after collecting and starting to give out invites to my fundraiser an eagle eyed Barbara Scully at the book launch of Eleanor Fitzsimons s brilliant new book Wilde s Women spotted that the date was wrong Yes I know I know always check before handing in So all that printing and paper was wasted However today I got a new replacement computer new invites printed and I m off to Tara Flynn s book launch now Giving Out Yards and best of all a family member who had the dreaded C has been given an excellent prognosis Oiche Mhaith http www herald ie opinion carol hunt linehans sad story shows why a vote on abortion is now vital 34122620 html Eamon Dunphy will be launching my fundraiser on 5th November at Cafe Du Journal Monkstown With lots of other interesting people attending I hope This is fundamentally DIY politics as I ve no party and no history of politicians in my family or close circle Many of us think that entering politics and becoming a candidate is a Very Difficult Thing to do and Not For The Likes of Us I m hoping to prove the opposite that politics is open to all men and women particularly women as we need so many more of them in Leinster House who don t necessarily have a political background But the requisite literature needs to be printed and posters need to be paid for so I m holding an evening of wine and tapas conversation and craic on 5th November and would really appreciate your support Please come if you can If you can t tell your friends and get them to go instead All offers of help or support gratefully received Contribution 60 80 100 For all info see carolforelection com or carolhunt ie Email carolforelection gmail com All donations gratefully accepted If you don t like the political system get involved Change it Dr Noel Browne What about the Men 12 Oct 2015 in Uncategorized by Carol Hunt The film Suffragettes opens in Dublin today so yesterday for the Sunday Independent I wrote about the women who dedicated their lives to getting the vote as well as working for labour rights and how they ve been forgotten I certainly didn t learn much if anything about them at school All we were told about was Maud Gonne and Constance Markievitz most probably because they were approved of by the Catholic Nationalists who re interpreted our history for their own ends As it was a piece which mentioned the importance of the work of feminists I got the usual what about the men comments on social media I expected that of course and in many cases they can be funny off the cuff or genuinely concerned at violence against both genders There s always a few however that suggest a hatred for

    Brid won a fabulous book Wilde s Women written by local author Eleanor Fitzsimons who was there and was delighted to sign it for her So it all ended well Lots of people turned up We raised cash for posters etc Marian Keyes arrived with her gorgeous husband Tony and loads of goodies for prizes Roisin Ingle raffled her fab book Eamon Dunphy gave a great speech as did Shane Ross I prepared a speech went to my friend Breda s to get it printed my printer as usual being broken lost it found it again and then didn t bother referring to it at all because it just didn t seem right so I just ad libbed We drank lots of wine and the wonderful staff in Cafe du Journal were fantastic So many thanks to all who came or donated gifts or contributed in a myriad of other ways I am very grateful to you all And there ll be another fundraiser in December But it will be a nice easy going pub quiz in my local pub the Wishing Well All welcome of course See you there Carol Vincent Browne no shows and fundraiser 3 Nov 2015 in Uncategorized by Carol Hunt I Survived the People s Debate with Vincent Browne in Dun Laoghaire last night I think it still has to air As usual afterwards I kicked myself for all things I should have said but didn t and for some of the things I did say but shouldn t have A good crowd showed up with very interesting and pertinent views on issues from taxation to home I was a bit surprised to be the only woman on the panel though no shows from Mary Mitchell O Connor Maria Bailey Carrie Smyth or Mary Hanafin This meant that Richard Boyd Barrett was the only sitting TD to attend Bless he had his own table and all And in other news my fundraiser is the day after tomorrow in Cafe du Journal Monkstown Details below please come or spread the news See you there Invite Campaign Fundraiser Would you like to be a character in Marian Keyes next novel or learn how to speak in public like a pro If the answer is yes come along to my fundraiser on November 5th where Marian as well as putting together a hamper of her favourite cosmetic goodies is offering a character name in her next novel Time off for Bad Behaviour to a lucky contributor Also the celebrated company Broadly Speaking is delighted to offer one of my supporters Broadly Speaking s Make Your Mark public speaking training course This is 1 x customised public speaking programme six hours over two or three sessions for a beginner or intermediate level speaker in 2016 http broadlyspeaking ie make your mark This course taught mainly to corporate clients CEOs managers and leaders is worth over 3k is available to a winning contributor These and lots of other goodies will
