    to a day of participation and fun We played four games on the day and we came away with two impressive wins The girls played some fantastic camogie and showed great team spirit throughout the competition They proved to themselves that they were well able competent players and their hunger for the game was clear on the day The future for Banteer camogie is looking bright Well done girls Posted in Pupils Achievements Tagged Sport Bookmark the permalink 3rd 4th Class Indoor Hurling 2015 by Miss Lehane Posted on February 4 2015 by Miss Lehane This week the 3rd and 4th class boys travelled to Doneraile to participate in the Sciath na Scol Indoor Hurling competition We started with an impressive display in our first game against Ballynoe After a slow start and being 3 0 down the boys pulled together and scored their first goal of the match From here on there was no stopping us With some fantastic saves an excellent defence line along with hard working mid fielders and determined forwards we finished the game on a score line of 6 4 winning the game Our next game was against a very strong and skilful Ballyhea team Our boys took some great shots but unfortunately they were blocked and saved by the opposition After tremendous efforts to get back into the game time was up and we lost 4 1 With all three teams Ballyhea Ballynoe Banteer on even points having won and lost a game each the team through to the final was decided based on goals scored Unfortunately we narrowly missed out by one goal and Ballynoe went through to the final Although disappointed the boys were really pleased with their performance on the day and look forward to next year already Well done boys

    a back and I love playing there By Lisa 5th Posted in Latest News Tagged Sport Bookmark the permalink Ladies Football Final by Aoife Posted on December 17 2014 by Miss Lehane We had two football finals this year The first we had was against Killavulen It was on in Castlemagner It was on last Saturday the 4th of October The score was 10 9 to 1 2 Our team were from 6th class 1st year and 2nd year Our coaches were Patrick Jane Adrian and Mikey Our other final was yesterday the 12th of October against Mitchelstown It was in Mallow at 4 30 p m They were a tough opposition The final score was 3 7 to 1 2 Our coachs again were Patrick Jane Adrian and Mikey By Aoife 6th Posted in Pupils Achievements Bookmark the permalink U13 Camogie Final by Kate Posted on December 17 2014 by Miss Lehane We played a camogie final on Sunday 16 11 14 in Banteer We were playing Milford we scored straight away with Róisín shooting over a point A few minutes later Niamh scored a goal which was disallowed because she was in the box Next Róisín scored a goal and Kate followed by scoring another goal In the second half we started off with another point by Róisín and she followed this with a superb goal Then Mairead scored a point followed by a goal The game ended with a goal by Kate When the final whistle blew we were delighted to win to a score of 4 3 to 0 2 By Kate 6th Posted in Pupils Achievements Bookmark the permalink Munster Badminton in U L by Kyle Posted on December 17 2014 by Miss Lehane On Sunday the 14th of December Kyle David Steven Megan and Tara in 5th and 6th class competed in U L for the Munster Close in Badminton In doubles Kyle got to the quarter final playing with someone from Tipperary David played with Steven and got to the quarter final too Then Megan and Tara made it to the qualifiers round However Tara lost her singles in the first round Kyle got to the quarter finals too Then David got to the semi finals playing against the second best player in Munster u13 singles Steven lost in the 1st round In the mixed team event Kyle and Anita from Lady s Bridge got to the semi final by 5 points David and Sinèad lost in the semi final and the score was 22 30 Overall an enjoyable and successful day for Banteer Badminton Club By Kyle 6th Posted in Pupils Achievements Bookmark the permalink Winning the Double by Kyle Posted on December 17 2014 by Miss Lehane Two weeks ago the Banteer U12 team won the Rebel Óg North Cork Hurling final against Glanworth The score was 7 9 to 1 2 Calum Shaughnessy was the captain On the 8th of October Banteer U12 team won the Rebel Óg North Cork

    more bridges between people than anything else I can think of Sebastian Coe Sport fosters many things that are good teamwork and leadership Daley Thompson Sports is the toy department of human life Howard Cosell A trophy carries dust Memories last forever Mary Lou Retton Nobody who ever gave his best regretted it George Halas Just keep going Everybody gets better if they keep at it Ted Williams Dr Pat O Callaghan A Local Olympic Hero Pat O Callaghan was born in 1905 the 15 of September in Kanturck Ireland He died on the first of December 1991 In 1928 and his brothers headed for the Olympic Games Pat was the first O Callaghan to win a gold medal In 1929 in the National Championships Pat won the hammer throw shot putt and high jump He became a Flag bearer for Ireland at the 1932 Olympics In 1960 he was the first person to win a Texaco Hall Of Fame Award When he retired from sports he became doctor in Clonmel and now there is a Dr Pat O Callaghan Sports Complex named after him There is a statue located in Banteer in memory of him by Clodagh 6th Irish
