    the time Its most recent set of accounts show that it had a turnover of 8 42m in the year to the end of February 2014 while it employed 35 staff Dunnhumby is currently in the process of being sold by Tesco as it is deemed to be non core to its operations WPP is understood to be the front runner to purchase the business which is likely to fetch between 1 1 5bn WPP has teamed up with the private equity firm General Atlantic to buy the business from the struggling retailer The bid by WPP comes weeks after MediaCom which is owned by WPP picked up the media account for Tesco It is also understood that offers may have been received by a number of other interested parties including private equity firms Warburg Pincus Permira Advisers and possibly Google Dunnhumby was set up in 1989 by Edwina Dunn and Clive Humby a University of Sheffield trained mathematician In 2001 Tesco bought as 53 stake in the business for a reputed 30m This stake was gradually increased to 84 in 2006 and 100 in 2010 WPP s involvement in the business saw it acquire a number of international businesses along the way including KSS Retail a provider of analytics software and services for retail price optimization and promotions planning in Manchester BzzAgent a Boston based social marketing and advocacy start up in 2011 and the Berlin based advertising technology firm Sociomantic in 2014 The company has been credited with the success of the Tesco Clubcard in Ireland and the UK and its data and analytics capabilities have also been used by other companies like Coca Cola and P G In Ireland it also works with manufacturers and suppliers to help them understand customer needs and retail trends A sale

    Now App for Android and iPad users This follows the launch of the iPhone app earlier this year The app part of RTÉ s delivery of a rolling news service incorporating TV radio mobile and outdoor screens offers new features as well as a greatly expanded range of content with 28 categories including national and international news sport entertainment and science and technology According to the latest research by Behaviours Attitudes May 2014 the RTÉ News Now App is currently the most used and recognised news app in Ireland and is used by17 of adults To date the app has been downloaded over 1 2 million times 270 000 of these by international users On average the app delivers 57 million page impressions each month the highest number of impressions across all of RTÉ s mobile services Changes to the new app include personalisation features that allow users to select and prioritise the content categories they use most often push notifications alerting users to breaking news and updates and sign in allowing synchronisation of news feeds across multiple devices In addition the app includes improved sports coverage including pre and post match analysis new live radio streams of RTÉ Radio1 and RTÉ 2FM in addition to the RTÉ News Now TV channel stream as well as access to audio and video content created by the RTÉ Newsroom including extra online and exclusive content The RTÉ News Now app was designed by RTÉ Digital s in house team and developed in partnership with Irish company Ammeon while the push notification and real time app analytics technology was provided by the Irish start up company Element Wave As part of the launch RTÉ Digital has published a video about the app s development which is below SHARE Facebook Twitter tweet AdWorld RELATED
