    Rugby World Cup 2015 was had by Onside Sponsorship which conducted some research on the brand winners during Ireland s ill fated tournament According to Onside 3 in 4 marketing professionals in Ireland named official sponsors rather than non official tournament sponsors of RWC2015 as brands that they felt stood out with Heineken and Land Rover shoulder to shoulder at the top of the research Among more than 36 different brands mentioned Guinness was the one non official Rugby World Cup brand that Irish marketing professionals rated at a similar level of effectiveness to Heineken and Land Rover for their activity around the event followed by Aer Lingus Land Rover s overall activation programme was judged by the Irish marketing community to have been most effective overall while Guinness received top recognition in terms of stand out social media and TV activation The other big winner according to research which was revealed at a breakfast briefing of Ireland s top marketers was TV3 Indeed 78 of Irish marketers who collectively play a hugely influential role in the media spend of many of Ireland s top brands rated TV3 s coverage of the tournament highly while 1 in 2 expressed a significant improvement in their overall perception of TV3 as a result of their coverage of the event And the knock on effect of the broadcasters strong performance was adjudged by marketers to have been passed onto coverage sponsors Land Rover with 3 in 4 agreeing that the broadcast partnership was effective at promoting the Land Rover brand in Ireland Commenting on the results John Trainor CEO of Onside notes that while the wider Land Rover investment in RWC 2015 tournament rights and broader activation were very effective the decision to include the broadcast sponsorship rights played a major part in

    will be missing their Tayto crisps Cadbury s chocolate and Barry s Tea according to research carried out by B A and Checkout magazine According to the Diaspora Decides survey Tayto Crisps are the most missed food by Irish emigrants Some 42 of the 546 respondents to the survey said that they missed Tayto while overseas with 18 saying they miss the crisp brand a lot Other brands identified by emigrants include Cadbury chocolate missed by 39 of respondents with 18 missing it a lot and Kerrygold butter missed by 46 of respondents with 17 missing it a lot When it comes to tea Barry s Tea is missed by 40 of respondents while Lyons Tea is also missed by the same percentage With the Irish diaspora spread far and wide it s likely that at least some of the products featured in this survey will be making their way to loved ones on the other side of the world this Christmas said Stephen Wynne Jones editor Checkout In addition the survey asked which product categories respondents felt were of a higher quality in Ireland and which categories were of superior quality overseas Here stout scores highest with 66 of respondents saying that they feel it is of a higher quality in Ireland Also scoring highly are Prepacked Bacon Rashers with 65 believing Irish products to be of higher quality Meat 62 Sausages 61 Butter 61 and Milk 58 Commenting on the research Martha Fanning Director Behaviour Attitudes said When asked about the quality of Irish products and more specifically in what categories respondents feel they can find better quality products in Ireland than abroad we see five out of the top six products are either in the meat or dairy categories It seems that our panelists were unperturbed by

    all other media with the exception of digital According to PML investment in OOH advertising was up by 7 in Q3 of 2015 Overall it was up by 5 in the period between January and September cycles 1 20 The largest campaign of Q3 was the rebranding of eircom to eir The telecoms company s total OOH spend which also includes the Meteor brand made the advertiser the most active in Q3 beating Diageo into second place and McDonald s into third says PML UPC s recent name change to Virgin Media will be included in the final quarter report of 2015 Commenting on the report James Byrne marketing manager at PML Group said It s great to see a strengthening OOH environment in the last six months particularly in key sectors including telecoms soft drinks and QSRs A buoyant car market with new sales up over 30 of the first nine months is reflected in a similar increase in their presence on outdoor The hope is the renewed confidence in big purchase items will extend to the high street Another good economic indicator is the rise in the education sector which is up 23 with colleges competing for talent in an increasingly competitive market According to Byrne the top 10 advertisers on OOH between January and September shared 27 of total display value between them Diageo remains in first place followed closely by McDonald s Third place is now held by eir its after extensive Q3 activity This is a rise of 11 places compared to the halfway point in the year Sky and Mondeléz meanwhile complete the top five for the year Within the top ten Coca Cola and UPC swapped places in 6th and 8th with Heineken Ireland sandwiched between them in 7th place SHARE Facebook Twitter
